Pedal dance problem
Ok, I've done the procedure about 50 times and only got the lights to come on once.
Warm up car, start, do everything in 30 seconds, 3 ebrakes up and hold, 3 brake pedals and hold, 3 ebrakes and hold, 2 break pedals. I swear I've done it the same each time, but only worked once. Wtf? |

Maybe it's the heat ..... ?? Ya'll must be about medium rare by now..?? Now, that reminds me a back-in-the-day story. We were at Fort Irwin, CA (just south of Death Valley), during August maneuvers. The temperatures were getting up into the mid 120s degree Fs. Our jeep radios would overheat and even with their internal fans running, wouldn't transmit. My RTO had a brilliant fix. He went back to the PX and secured a bunch of cardboard soda cartons. When they were placed upside down over the PRC 46 radios, they just fit. So, when kept moist by water from our canteens, the radios would cool down so we could communicate. THE END humfrz |

I swear the dance is driving me crazy. I've tried several times over the last couple years with no luck, then today I read in an old thread that the car has to be at temp. I've always tried cold in the garage. So after work, I pull up at the bar,I mean church parking lot and give it a try. On the 5th try it worked. I was stoked. Now I can't do it again. do you have to have your head tilted just right or something? |

Two solutions for this. Buy that $500 dollar box that fixes this or go into the bar and drink til you forget and have to call an Uber to get home

Yep, that one lamp post in the parking lot came at me sideways really quick. After that, I figured that turning off the nannies totally, wouldn't be good for me or my car ..... humfrz |

I never have more than 2 drinks when at church. Can't say the same for at home. Do the boxes work with ecutek tunes? |

I guess I'll just go back to building my 42 a/c units and forget about pedal dance.

Just the low 90s today. In Visalia when I was very young, we'd hope for a trip to the supermarket on those 105-110 degree days.

3/3/3/3/3/3 until 1) lights come up, or 2) 30 seconds have elapsed.

Ok, it's stuck in my mind now, I can't let it go. I have to master this...
The glasses of vodka with a splash of Collins mix probably aren't helping. I went out and did it another 12 times or so, got it to work twice, so I'm getting better. Nice slow movements, and make sure you put the ebrakes handle down so the front lights come on, and take your foot off the brake pedal between strokes. I will master this car if it kills me! |

It's really picky about being up to operating temp. If I've shut off the engine for just a few minutes, forget it.
After lots of practice I've developed a pretty good feel for where my temp gauge needs to be. If I try and it doesn't catch, I just wait and try again. Now, if you read the tail end of Mike's pedal dance thread, you'll see that I figured out his little secret. If you start with both hand and foot brakes engaged it's: 2 presses of foot brake & hold 2 yanks of hand brake & hold 2 presses of foot brake profit. I also think (seems like...) if you start the sequence too quickly, before the instruments finish their power-on-self-test, it won't catch. 30 seconds is a long time. Once I start though, I buzz through it in a flash. No need to actually do it slowly.

You are so right, it is very picky. I am happy to say I did it THREE times in a row just now. I think I finally got it. |
