I did hear there was a pretty good leak of the GR Corolla on the Toyota USA instagram, but was quickly deleted. So idk. Also that image looks just like the regular corolla with the STI wheels we've seen on the new BRZ or other STIs.

I know this is a strange thing to say, but the other cars with GR have it in front of the car name; GR86/GR Supra. But with the GR behind it makes me wonder if the Corolla GR will be nothing more than an appearance package much like the 'Nightshade' and 'Apex' were.
That is, IF the Corolla GR ends up being a thing.

Honestly, that'd be a major disappointment. I already can't stand these "nightshade" or "black edition" BS. Hopefully it's performance-oriented. Please!

I understand doing the GR Corolla like we want it is a huge endeavor, but I feel the pieces are laid out. Still, after seeing that naming scheme, I think that's what's gonna happen. We will get a hatchback corolla with the GR fair and no actual performance upgrades. Then again, the GR86 isn't anything 'high speed' and it has the name in there.

If they want to be consistent with the global GR brand, then a GR Corolla as nothing more than an appearance pack would actually be branded as GR Sport.

GR Yaris, GR Supra and GR 86 are all fully fledged GR in one way or another, so it only makes sense for the GR Corolla to be just like those.
I suppose what makes a GR Supra and GR86 being as full fledged GR is the fact that they're 100% sports cars not based on an existing car like the GR yaris sort of.

Even then, the GR Yaris justifies it since it has the motor and drivetrain to back it up. So we will see. I'm still hopeful and totally fine with a GR Corolla with just the turbo 3 and FWD.

The GR in front of the Supra and the 86 are nothing but marketing whtewash already so putting it after doesn't mean much.

They can be fully fledged sportscars without tacking GR on the front of the name. At least the GR on the Yaris mans something since it isn't just a normal model.
GR used to mean something but like TRD before it it has been watered down to a simple regular model with a historic designation to make it sound cooler.

If it's like their JDM trim levels, "GR" would be the second highest trim, and where the performance is actually changed. GRMN would be the highest, whereas GR Sport is the appearance package trim. I'm also assuming if they named it the GR Corolla, they won't be able to count the sales towards the Corolla nameplate, so they're using it as a trim level instead.

That document is most likely not a Toyota HQ document. Was probably done up by the New York Region by some pencil pusher that doesn't even know what GR means. i.e. its placement ahead/behind Corolla means nothing in this instance.
