Anthropomorphizing your 86

How many of you give your vehicles names? And, do you have any names in mind for your 86/BRZ/FRS when you finally get it? Any particular reason for the name you chose?

I tend to name all of my vehicles for a variety of reasons.

Current vehicle: Lexus RX300
Name: Lex. This one seems rather obvious but my wife’s name is also Lex (Alexia) and it was her car first.

Current bike: Yamaha Roadstar 1600(drag pipes, ape hangers, slammed, solo seat)
Name Vicki. The V in Vicki is for the V-twin and Vicki is one of my wife’s, um, role-playing names.

Wife’s car: Scion tC
Name Randy. Wife named it Randy because she said that is how it makes her feel when she drives it. (No argument here)

Previous car: 88 Supra MkII Turbo
Name Cleo after Madame Cleo from those infamous commercials long ago. Reason: car was black, had a big butt (that would shake side-to-side in a fishtail), and it took all my money.

Previous bike: 80 KX650 LTD
Named Krystal after a gorgeous red-head that I had a crush on at the time(bike was red) and I loved to ride it everywhere.

The list goes on and on.

Planning on getting a White/Manual and so far the name Chloe keeps popping up for me. It may change once I drive her and her real personality forces a new name.

I dunno, in my experience it seems to be an unhealthy attachment when you start naming your vehicles. The people I know that name their cars are the same type of people willing to have a physical altercation over a door ding or fender bender.

To each their own I guess

I've usually name my cars also.

Roxy the RSX type S

Tabitha the Integra Type R

Manfred the 1990 Jetta 16v project car (everyone called it "the baron" so I named him after the Red Baron haha)

Alfred the 335i (it seemed like a german accountants name as the car was silver and boring)

Maggie the Z4 M coupe (so named after Maggie May in the song by Rod Stewart, because she took all of my money and beat the hell out of me but I couldn't stop being in the relationship)

I don't think I've ever named a car I've owned... well, I take that back, a couple of years ago I had a 2010 Mustang GT that I called Baby.

The Red Supra is "The red supra"
The White Supra is "The white Supra" (or "the Auto")

And the Avalon is...you guessed it! "The Avalon" (Although sometimes I do call it the Babylon...I don't know why....)
