For the K&N which side face the cabin? The flat side or the puffy part that sticks out?

Someone correct if I'm wrong. On the factory and K&N filters one of the corners is a squared and all of the rest are rounded. With that squared side it will only go on one way to seal and allow the air box to shut correctly. That squared side should go down and to the passenger side if I remember correctly.

I think I just had it upside down cause the seal was wonky. I think I got it right.

But does the puffy padding go towards the cabin? Or facing the bumper?

Towards the bumper. That's the area that does the filtering and the mesh supports it to stop it collapsing with the suction.

I installed it and drove with it or 50 miles this morning. I didn't notice much difference, I have a Berk muffler delete on and it didn't really effect the exhaust note but I did notice a slighting shushing noise above 4k rpm. The sound is similar to having the AC on low or someone shhhhhhhing you. It sounds clean and the engine REALLY seems to come alive between there and redline, I mean it really puts you back in the seat!

I love the set up I have on it now but am considering installing an exhaust silencer just to detract from any unwanted attention from the fuzz.
Great result!
I just checked mine to confirm you have fitted it alright.
The other point, that's really the most important one, is that it filters so well. I don't know how long you had the OEM filter in before the Perrin but mine went in almost straight away and it's spotless after the filter.
Wipe it with a white tissue and it's still clean spotless.

Yup had it on wrong ... this is why Perrin should've included some type of instructions (yes I'm serious ). I was thinking the mesh was to prevent debris damage to the form but what sierra mentioned above makes sense.

I agree with you. All the drop in filters should have it clearly explained which way it fits. Once you know, it's obvious but I thought the same as you, with the mesh, at first and felt a dill when the penny dropped.
