With Kimi staying at Ferrari I think it's clear they will be after Ricciardo or Verstappen. Bottas is a nice driver bit I don't think he's anything special.

Hamilton on pole, Nico 2nd and Bottas 3rd, 1.34 seconds behind Nico. Kimi had something blow in Q2 and came to a stop on-track. Nico had a rear tire explode in practice yesterday but managed to keep it off the wall and only suffered minor damage to rear bodywork.

I noticed that the date on the U.S. Grand Prix here in Austin at COTA has been moved up to late October from early/mid November. Although typically the weather is good here at that time of year, it can get very warm, into the 90's (Fahrenheit). If this trend were to continue, then the drivers and fans from out of the region might lose their positive impression of Texas weather.

---- NOT!

F1 really needs to do something about reliability of these hybrid power units. When you lose 2 cars before the race even starts sucks.

Watching the Indy Race from Pocono right now. Damn more entertaining than the F1 race was. Almost like the Fontana race. At the rate they are going, there may not be any cars left by the end of the race.

Kvyat is really starting to shine. If I were Ferrari or Renault I would try nabbing either one of the senior red bull drivers.

Another wreck involving rookie Sage Karam going out of turn 1, hit outside wall a ton and most of the front of the car busted off. The nose cone of the car (wings broke off the nosecone) went airborne and came down and hit Justin Wilson in the cockpit. Being airlifted out of track......no update on condition yet.......only 13 out of 24 cars left running.......been a lot of attrition.

UPDATE: Wilson suffered severe head injury and is in a coma..........not a good sign....

Not sure they would want to go to Red Bull unless they get their power unit woes fixed, even for a wad-o-cash........

I'd say there's plenty of time between now and next year for Renault to clear up their issues and be ready as a works team. After all up til this year they have shown plenty of speed

When Honda said they'll have equal the hp to Ferrari for this race, did they mean the 2014 Ferrari engine in the Manor? Because those were the only cars McLaren were faster than. Pathetic...

Let's not forget that it was Renault who headed up the engine change to the present configuration, threatening to pull out unless the specs were changed to the turbo V6's.

They made their bed, let them lie in it I say. V6's suck. They sound like crap, (unless they wanged out to 20,000-plus rpm's, where ANYTHING sounds good) and the turbos quiet them down too much.

They could have shown off "the world's top technology" (one of the main driving reasons for F1 right?) in many other ways, and still kept the wonderful, screaming, loud engines that has always been F1.

I sincerely hope Honda figures something out, or gets some spy information, or something that makes them more competitive next year.

The more manufacturers the better I say. Keep F1 from turning into an Indy car spec class.

Personally (and I think a lot of people and drivers feel this way) they should remove most of the rules, bring back the REAL race cars, with big noise and Huge power, and Huge tires (of many brands) and let everyone RACE!

Not watch fuel consumption, and tire management, and drivers not driving at their limits because of 20 different reasons that are holding F1 down IMO (watching fuel use and saving tires, keeping the drivers as more "monitors" than all flat-out drivers.

Refueling would be cool too. It's fine that they are now hybrids, but refueling has always been a part of racing.

The whole "keeping costs down" thing is BS, it costs more to transport the cars to one race in fuel than they ALL use in one season in the cars.

The rule could be made such that the engines were much cheaper to make, and still showcase the world's technology, and be Oh so much more loud and more powerful and exciting.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE F1, I just wish they'd taken it in a different direction.

OK, end of diatribe.
