When you did the install, did you unhooked the battery before the install? Because that may be your problem.

My car just threw the same code. I have grimmspeed intake thought and doesn't seem to be leaking. Did OP resolve this? Was it a bad intake?

The design of the Injen substantially alters the MAF location, and I believe they had some issues early on with weld and placement inconsistencies of their "tube within a tube" design that helped with their MAF readings. Kind of a cool idea when executed correctly. So some people had problems with that, and this defective intakes.

Our intake doesn't have anything to that effect and has extremely accurate MAF readings due to similar MAF placement, air straightener, and airbox design. This would be the first instance of a car with our intake having this code.

Have you done any exhaust work at all recently? A pre-o2 sensor leak would certainly show a lean condition and throw a code.

If not, first recheck everything, there are only a few places that unmetered air could possibly get in, really only the PCV nipple, or throttle body coupler. You should also check to make sure you haven't damaged the o-ring on the MAF sensor.

If everything looks good I would reset the ECU, and drive for a few days to see if the code comes back. If it does, take the intake off, put on your stock intake, reset the ecu and drive around for a few days to see if the code comes back. Then get in touch with us so we can get the intake back to see if we can identify any sort of problem.

So let us know, shoot us a PM with what you find.

Injen Intake possible causing CEL

Thanks grimmspeed for the quick and informative reply. No exhaust work done all stock exhaust. I do have a PCV oil catch can and I have recheck the hosing on that all seems fine. I reset the code now. Ran it for a couple of drive cycle. The light didn't come back on but p0171 code pop back up in the the pending code and permanent code is of course still there.

If it's easy I would see if you can run the car without the catch can (and in stock form), because a leak form anywhere in that system would be just like leaving the PCV nipple on the intake not hooked to anything. It can pull unmetered air right through it. Reset the ECU and try again.

If I have a leak wouldn't the ecu detect that immediately and throw up a cel even if I cleared it? Anyways went for a drive made sure to idel before and after. The permanent code has now clear up as well. I'm gonna try driving the car as is for awhile. The catch can hoses was a bitch to install would rather not mess with up if I don't have to. Will report back if I see the same code up again.

Not necessarily unfortunately, it can take a while and in some instances a lot longer than others.

So hopefully it was just a fluke, so let us know if the problem continues. Otherwise you then have the option of putting your stock intake back in and seeing if the problem persists, or going through everything on the catch can.
