Why so few "First 86" buyers in the south?

I looked at the posting on this forum where 59 of the 86 winners have replied with their location.
I would have thought a BRZ/FR-S would be very popular in the south.

This is a state by state breakdown in the south of the 59 known "First 86" buyers:

KY 1
NC 0
SC 0
GA 1
FL 7
AL 0
TN 0
MS 1
TX 6
LA 1 (I met at first86 event)
AR 0
-------
17 total

I think we may just have low representation on the forums.

I know, for example, that another dealer in the Atlanta metro area claims to have a 1st 86 winner. Right after I got my notice, they called me trying to snipe me from my dealer. Not sure how they found out about me, but the sales weasel that called knew all about the program and made a point of saying they had just finished the paperwork on one and would gladly help me out.

I declined since the rules were very specific about each dealer only getting one.

I have talked to all three dealerships in Mississippi and I am the only one on the "first 86" list for the whole state.

There are a lot of straight flat roads down here. A lot of the car guys that I have come across could care less about COG and slalom speeds. They just want fat rubber and crazy straight line speed. I could be wrong but I think that is affecting the sales down here. I know my dealership only has one deposit and is going to be getting three a month. They told me that I should just be able to walk in and get one when I am ready.

Well down DOWN south here, everyone loves the midsize/compact family sedan. Rarely see trucks but the ones for work.

I do hate the fact we have too much straight line roads like i95/i75/Turnpike/and 2 more express ways

Also AR is not on the list. I'm not in the "First 86" but I am planning on having one by the end of this year or early next.
