So yesterday at Boxerfest my girlfriend lost her mind and bought me a bunch of stuff. Tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't have it. So I now have some Muteki red forged steel sr35 lugnuts, a Grimmspeed pulley cover and a PTuning EL Competition Header. The header is awaiting install. Guess I'll have to get an overpipe and a frontpipe/midpipe or a headerback exhaust or something instead of just the Berk delete now.

I ordered up a Perrin overpipe to go with the header since the same panels have to be pulled to install both. Going to try and have them installed next weekend.

Boom shaka laka. @ptuning EL header and Perrin overpipe are installed. It was a bit of challenge just finding a spot to do the install. First, I had planned to do it on base at the auto hobby shop but the lifts were too high to get under the car. We tried some boards but they were shaped weird and we couldn't get things to line up right. So then I made an appointment at PTuning for next weekend. After thinking on that I didn't want to be in a situation where I have a modded car and can't work on it myself, so we picked up a 2-ton low profile jack from Harbor Freight and some jack stands. Next problem was the jack stands were not as pictured once I got inside the boxes. Box showed nice saddle with a deep cut for the pinch weld but the actual jack stands were different. I will be returning those this week but in the meantime I picked up a single set from Napa and got on it. Took me about 2 hours including breaks, of which there were several. Much better experience than working on my former GTO.

I did the heatshield removal version of the overpipe removal, rather than jack up the engine. Also, the new overpipe went back in just fine. Guess because it's the 2.5" rather than the 3".

After install I loaded up the latest Stage 2 EL tune with my OFT. The numbers from driving around for a little while are spot on - better than they were with the Grimmspeed intake tune. In any case, it sounds pretty wicked. My setup now is PTuning EL Header - Perrin 2.5" Overpipe - Stock Front Pipe - Stock Mid Pipe - Berk Single Axleback delete.

I have video but haven't put it up yet. Here are some pics:

Picked up some TRD-Style Window Vent Visors off eBay last week and they showed up last night (no way was I going to pay $300 for vent visors). I will be installing them this afternoon.

I had also ordered a Berk catted front pipe but they are on some major back-order everywhere so I looked around and decided on a CNT Racing catted front pipe instead. They have positive reviews in other communities so it should be good. Unfortunately because of the holiday and the fact that it took the Berk distributor 2 days to cancel/refund my order I won't get the new pipe until late next week so that won't get on until next weekend probably.

I'll post pics of the vent visors later today.

No, not at all. However, my having a tiny lithium battery helped as you are doing the work right next to where the battery is (tiny battery = more room to work).

If you're really short or have very large hands it might be a challenge also.

I do recommend using a mirror or using your front cam to get a view of the opening so you know you got any leftover factory RTV off and that you put enough on for the replacement plate.

Oh well what do we have here? CNT Racing's Front Pipe with HFC. Looks pretty good. Unfortunately due to weather over the next few days it'll probably have to wait until Sunday for the install. Enjoy some pictures in the meantime...And yes, it does come with all gaskets (5 layer gasket for the overpipe junction, nice!) and a plug for the O2 Bung (which I didn't even realize it had until it showed up).

Got the CNT Racing Catted Front Pipe on this afternoon. I also swapped in Grimmspeed 5 layer gaskets at the Header/Overpipe and Overpipe/Frontpipe junction. Car's resting now...First start in a few minutes. I'm expecting it to be ungodly loud at this point. Now I just need to do something about that midpipe. I'm thinking I may do the WORKS midpipe and then the Nameless Muffled Track Pipe but that is close to the price of the Tanabe Concept G and a few other single exit catbacks so I may go that route. Not sure yet.
