Hawk ceramic brake pads

Hey guys,

Any thoughts on these?

I heard they are very good for comp., noise and low dust, but is it true they lack in cold conditions?

Any better suggestions? or are these like the 'bees knees' lol.

Good question. I'm also looking for racing grade brake pads as well as braking fluid for when I track the 86 for the first time in December. =D

Just need something that will withstand the heat. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers.

I'll be fitting Ferodo 2500's shortly to my 86GT.
Been using them for years in my modified 2008 Audi S3.
They've done over 50000k,including lots of track usage,and still have heaps of pad material left.
Used them at Marulan track on Sunday and thet're still good.
Work well cold,very well when hot.
Best pad I've ever used for combined road and track.
Believe the part number is FCP1639H.

I had Hawk Ceramics on my VW R32 - low dust, low noise, lost some initial "bite" (hot or cold) which was fine once I got used to it, but probably wouldn't go that way again on the GT.

Also, I've seen some reports that they are hard on the rotors in comp use (my comp use in the R32 was primarily hillclimbs and then only once in a while.)

If you are serious about track have dedicated track pads, if it's for bar-room racing then it won't matter.

Standard pads are fine for street.

May I ask who told you? Or when you say "heard" do you mean you have read that they are very good?

Like many of your questions this does not have one answer. It depends on the type of driving you do and your driving style. It's a compromise.

Yes, there are a lot of variables in determining half the questions I ask. That's why I ask for opinions because I know everyone will always have bias and preferences. Even if I said who makes the best, no one can conclusively say.
