buffer/polisher

Has anyone used the "cheap" buffers/polishers? the ones for like 50 bucks that you can pick up at most auto stores? I cant really afford 300 dollars for a buffer, and was wondering if these cheap ones are even worth buying.

I wouldn't recommend going cheap on a polisher. It would cost more to fix your paint from a cheap polisher doing damage. Porter cable makes a dual action polisher for about $120 or so. Highly recommended and well worth it.

sounds like my best bet . basically I just want to polish the swirls from the factory out and keep a nice layer of wax on the car. so I don't really need any of the super fancy ones. and if the P.C unit can be had for under 120, id be good with that

It's never worth saving a few dollars when it come to a good polishing system. If you have to just save up till you can afford the pc 7424xp, it's well worth the wait. It's perfect for a beginner or pro. I use it on my daily driver and have the paint so deep it goes on forever. Just don't skimp out on wax or polish, they far out weigh the cost of the polisher. All in all I have around $1,100 invested between the 7427xp, polish and wax. Believe me if you spend the money the first time it will make you happier than you can ever imagine possible. Check out a website autogeek.net. That's exclusively were I buy from and they will have a set up tailored to your needs.

Even the cheap Harbor Freight da is better then the cheap wax spreaders. With a coupon it's about fifty bucks. There are many guys that use it for a back-up machine. Just stay away from their pads. ( junk ).

The 7424XP is an amazing piece of equipment. I love mine and highly recommend it to others. Don't cheap out on the Walmart/auto store crap.
