2019 Toyota 86 Door Issues

Any idea why the doors don’t lock automatically when shifting into gear?

So you can jump out when the baddies are chasing you!

I believe it's dealer programmable that way.

Actually you can programme the fob, just sit in your car, press the left and then right button, wait for the high pitched whistle then rub your tummy.. don't rub anything under your belt as this will upset the software..

Because it's not an american car.

Auto locking doors in drive is just a thing with american cars.

Not true..our 2018 Mazda CX5 has it. But unless they have added it to the 86, I don't think our cars have it.

Why doesn’t the radio work correctly? Why don’t the seats stay forward? Why is there no center console?

Add it to the list. They just don’t lock when you drive off. Nearly every other car does these days, across every brand.

That’s what makes it a “real sports car”

The manual snobs missed a great opportunity: They don't lock so that you can jump out and get a proper transmission.

Sure the doors can lock automatically but I like the feel of manually locking them. I have more control of the car and I pay much more attention to what is happening around me when I have to manually push the lock button. This all makes me a much better driver than those auto lock fools! It is sad that young people today don't know how to manually lock their cars and it won't be long until they all automatically lock and the skill will be lost forever.

Yep. I want to control when the doors lock not let the car decide when it should do it!
