I hope all those who are waiting get their new ride asap. I was lucky. I called an out of state dealer 25 minutes out and they had a Raven M/T on the lot. It was a painless experience. Went to test drive for sh!!ts and giggles, 60 minutes later driving it home.

Didn't hurt that I knew some inventory data as I helped roll out the fr-s to some dealers in a pr event. Strangely enough, the place I bought it wasn't at the event. it was just a roll of the dice.

Great car! Best of luck to those waiting!

I ordered my second FRS earlier this month, and I changed my mind to a day later wanting an automatic in Hot Lava. The head of sales for Scion here is pretty great though, as he emailed me last week asking if I would settle for the manual in Hot Lava because it could be there quickly. I do a lot of traffic driving anymore though, so I decided to wait. I was originally quoted as it being here by the end of the month, but I'm starting to have doubts thats going to happen.

What dealer for the MT? I have been waiting for a Hot Lava MT since January. I'm in Indy, so if you don't want that one, they might be able to send it my way.
Thanks!

Nothing to do with Scion/Toyota. 100% your dealers fault. They probably just didn't order your car when they should've (that's my guess actually) since I can have any color/transmission combination delivered within 7 weeks at most. (usually way faster)
I hate crappy dealers

I am starting to wonder (at least in mid Atlantic) region if smaller dealers are getting screwed. I placed a preorder in early May and told that there is no guarantee it would available next allocation in July. I noticed someone else got a VIN already so I made few calls around. At the end of the day the high volume dealers could get whatever I wanted in 30 days (but they were adding every option both port and factory installed) to jack up the price. All the small dealers had no clue when they would get a FRS, let alone a specific color or transmission. It appears the high volumes get first dibs and the small dealers are left hanging in the wind.

Small dealers are losing out. Larger dealers get more cars and more bargaining chips if they're going to trade for the color/drivetrain you want.

I am unfortunately telling customers a worst case scenario of 4-6 months.

My dealer is one of the biggest Scion dealers in CAT and I have 3 orders in currently. Also, Scion allocation only runs once a month, opposed to Toyota's twice a month. Your reps should be contacting you the first week of every month to see if they received your vehicle on allocation, after that, you unfortunately have to wait for the next month because they will know nothing else until then.

If you've been waiting for more than a month, it's time to look elsewhere.

In my experience, the larger/more reputable dealers can pull strings and put in additional allocations.

which colors do you guys think are the most rare? like if you had to guess, which 3 colors are the ones that Scion builds the least of.

i've been to two local dealerships so far. the small one has sold 4 already, where as the big one has only gotten and sold 1. so im starting to think that the big dealerships dont always get the priorities, but iunno.

My dealer told me it's based on how much volume you move of that type of car, not just in general. Since the FR-S is new they are basing it on the next closing thing, the tC. So if a dealer sells a lot of tC's they will get more of the FR-S. At least initially until there's enough sales data on the FR-S.

They didn't have it in stock, but apparently there was another dealer they could get it from for me? Not sure, but the dealer is Marion Toyota in Marion IL, about 5 to 6 hours from you.

I had to put my deposit in January just to see it in June. So try not to worry too much. Besides, you can save more money while waiting, and then have less worries when it comes to monthly payments. Or save that money up for parts. Your car will come! Do not fret!

Does anyone know how to find out which cars are at which dealerships? When I go to a dealer website and look up inventory, it only shows me a regional list. I'd like to find out where a particular FR-S is located so I can speak with that dealership directly (rather than have the other dealership try to arrange for a vehicle swap).

TIA.
