I have no idea who you work for.

Thanks for the info!

What I learned this HPDE season:
- I like driving on slicks and probably won't use tires above UTQG 100 on a dry track again
- I like Toyo Proxes RR...a lot...they give audible warning before they let go and it looks like they will take on many heat cycles

Where were you experiencing rubbing?

Between the spring perch and the sidewall. No issues without camber bolts, or with Tarmac II coilovers.

Both guys who run a serious summer setup here love the R888's. They wear surprisingly well for street use too.

R888's are known to fall off fast, and heat cycle out long before the tread is gone. They're also not competitive against current R compound treaded tires (Hankook TD, etc), or even against the hottest street tires anymore.

I like my XP10s on the track. Seem to bite well and consistently though I did have some pad fade at one point but I think that's attributed to the S2000 having small brakes. In cold weather on the street though, damn they are loud as heck.

I think I'm going to order their street compound (Carbotech 1521) and swap pads between track and off track. Pain in the ass but it makes the car a true weekend warrior as opposed to just a track warrior.

Once that transfer layer scrapes off, they do get loud. But still function fine for street use. Considering how well they work for an intermediate track driver on track, its a pretty good trade off.

I did test the R888 against the RE71-R (I bought the RE71-R, because I needed a street legal tire which was less prone to hydroplaning and probably also because I read all the raving reviews). The R888 was over 1 year old and had about 40 autocross runs on it. The R888 was still superior compared to the RE71-R (new) in dry conditions.
It was interesting to note that the RE71-R was stickier to touch and picked up more dirt. Nevertheless the R888 was faster.
Of course, the R888 is still significantly slower than a racing slick (see my previous post).

Over here the R888 is meanwhile being replaced by the R888-R (but I have no experience with the R888-R nor do I know anyone who has.)

These are my R7's after 32 heat cycles over 8 days this the summer.
Sebring 5 Days
Roebling 1 Day
NOLA 2 Days

They still look great but the compound has hardened substancially, still managed laps at NOLA in the 2:02's. Most track days I rotate front to back at mid day then opposite corners at the end of day 1.

I just bought a second set of track wheels from a forum member today. These are RPF1's in 17x8. I plan to run a 225 tire on these wheels and compare back to back against the 17x9 Titans which will be reshod with a slightly used set of 245 A7's I have in the garage. Many have suggested that less section width and less sticky compound may actually be faster on horsepower biased tracks like Sebring, RA and VIR where I plan to run in the coming months.

I would like to hear suggestions for a tire to represent the skinny on lighter wheels side of the equation. Very interested in these, total weight would be 34 pounds.
