Tire recommendation
Just got my Apex wheels from the group buy and need some tires. Mainly commuting in the BRZ.
255/40/17 Looking at the Continental DWS 06 or the BFG G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S. Anyone have any experience with either tire? or recommend a different brand for around the same price range 500-700? Edit: how about Riken Raptor ZR A/S. Nothing but good reviews and they're cheap lol. Last edited by EzyBrzy; 03-28-2018 at 09:48 PM. |

Had the BFGs once on another car only lasted about 18K. On a set of Micheline A/S 3+ right now about 20K and still good.
My favs though were the Yokohama Parada Spec2s about a more than a decade ago...

Ok, still not sure why that requires all-seasons Comfort? Life expectancy? Rain? Visit freezing temps often? |

I just got the Michelin Pilot 4S. They are AMAZING. But they're a summer tire.

All season?
I'm stuck at the all season bit too. All season tires are tires that try to do everything, but do nothing particularly well. Their main advantage is in cold weather where their compound doesn't harden up like summer tires. They aren't necessarily better in rain. They aren't as good in snow as dedicated winter tires. Most people buy them because they tend to have longer tread wear. If you are going for longevity over traction, how about the Michelin 4 season?

tbh i wouldnt worry too much about getting All seasons. Especially now. Weather is warming up, we'll at most maybe see another week or two of rain. At that point you are going to wish you had a stickier tire. Since this is your DD I assume you are going to want something comfy enough for every day but also grippy enough for the few drives you might have in between.
As stated above the Michelin 4S are a good choice as are their PSS. Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 are also a great daily tire. Dont get too caught up in the label of "summer" or "all-weather". I've had all weather tires that completley sucked in all weather and summer tires that have a ton of grip even in the rain.

Is the "wet/cold" weather near freezing ie ~35F? If not, you need high mileage summer tires not all seasons.
Believe it or not, summer tires have better wet grip than all seasons. A/S just have a much lower operating temperature in the expense of over all grip. |
