Im doing a V8 LQ4 swap. Its a 2004 Chevy Tahoe engine which has an LS iron block and Im rebuilding the engine from the ground up. You can pick up one of these engines for super cheap, $800 - $1300 depending on mileage, year and condition. Im going with a Z32 5 speed manual transmission you can pick up a used one for probably $500-$600.
you will need alot more than an engine and transmission to make the engine fit but its food for thought
