2022 MT to AT center console swap

Here's how I swapped the center console out.

I ordered and used Subaru parts:

Center console: 92113CC010
Lid console box: 92114CC000
Front console mat: 92177CC010
Console foam: 92166CC000 & 92166CC010

The mat for the cubby comes with the cubby so no need to order one.

Start by removing the parking brake cover. Just pull it up.

Remove the trim piece under the hvac controls. The top corners are the easiest to get into.

Remove the 2 screws from the outer shifter trim.

Pull up at the back, then remove to the rear.

Remove the inner shifter trim. If removing completely, remove shift knob first.

Remove the screws at the front of the console.

Remove the covers from the rear console bolts.

Remove the rear console bolts with a 10mm socket.

Lifting at the front to separate it then go to the next step.

Unplug the USB plug with the push nub where my finger is.

Remove the other plug with the push nub on the center underside of the plug.

Remove the center console.

Remove the plugs from the USB unit.

Unclip the harness from the console in 3 places.

Remove the 5 screws to remove the 2 switch panels with harness attached.

Remove the 9 screws from the console that hold the side trim and drink pockets.

Remove the side trim pieces. They have clips attaching them, I used a screwdriver to start the separation before pulling them off.

Here are some pictures of them together.

MT cubby on the right. You can see that the screw tabs do not line up.

Install the AT cubby into the AT console and install the side trim with 9 screws.

Install the switches with harness and 5 screws. Install the USB module into the cubby and plug it in. clip in the harness. I also installed the foam in the same places that the MT console had them

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Absolutely phenomenal write up. Thank you so much for doing this. Likely to be my very first mod, well, unless you count my CG-Lock lol.

Great write-up! I might have to do this if I cannot find a better place to put my phone. Do you find yourself using the new cup holder for your phone or a drink?

Nice write up.

Do you notice the increased height at all when shifting?

Nice write up. Thanks for doing this. Looks like great option for my phone. What was the total cost of doing the swap?

The main purpose was for the phone as the door cupholder works pretty good for me.

No. I do notice it resting my arm. Its a tad bit nicer with the extra little bit of height.

My cost was about $35. But that's because Subaru paid for the AT console cupholder(lid console box). It has an MSRP of $256.38 + tax. You can find it cheaper at about $190 if you shop around online.

Besides a drink blocking shifting... I wonder why it just didn't come like this?

agreed. unless you have a tall cup or water bottle that cupholder is far enough away from the shifter that it shouldn't be an obstruction anyways (at least for proper driving position and not the vin diesel 1 hand on 12 o clock wheel while other hand resting on shifter coolness style)
