This bumper is an evolution of the 2013-2016 86/FRS version and I love it!!!

Based on the little we've seen so far, at this point the front fascia looks bland and boring compared to the Subie. Time will tell.

True comment. But only because over-styled designs are the trend right now. The BRZ will be much more attention-grabbing 100%, but it will age poorly, and in 10 years people will look back on it as the black sheep compared to the 86.

Sort of a flip on the current BRZ and FR-S/86 situation, where I think the pre- and post-face lifted BRZ is the better design because the FR-S/86 were overstyled.

Fog lights have little to do with modern bulb tech and everything to do with positioning. The whole point is they need to be down low to shine underneath the fog layer. If the fog is so thick it goes right to the ground, then nothing matters, but frequently it rests a foot or so above the road surface and then fog lights can do their job nicely.

My wife's old '08 Yaris of all things had great fog lights in each corner, down low, right above the bumper lip. The worked really well.

The earlier fog light kits for our cars were low enough to be useful also, but the facelifted ones got moved up too high and consequently don't work as well.

Why not both? Put the foglights in the bottom corners of the "grill".

Vastly-prefer how Toyota's front-end handles the space for the front license plate.

If that front bumper is considered bland and boring, I'd like to see what folks think is aggressive. The BRZ has the smiley feminine grille with pear shaped side intakes vs this having the meaner grille with sleeker side air intakes.

You take that back right now!
I think they all look good, and there is enough to differentiate them. I know I’m biased, but I don’t feel like the twins get enough praise for being really good looking cars with near perfect proportions. I was kind of annoyed when Doug Demuro gave the Subaru BRZ tS a ‘6’ on his styling score. 6?! Really??! A small, sexy coupe gets a 6, wow. Maybe he deducted for the wing. I think he is great, but he couldn’t be wronger on that one.

I'll take back some of it and say that the twins live in a vacuum without any competitor. So even if it is ugly or offensive, I can't point to anything else that is doing it better, aesthetically speaking. Like, I think the new Kia K5 is the best-looking sedan and the Camry is the ugliest. But if only the Camry existed, well, I don't like the design but it is still the best. So even if the 2022 BRZ isn't my preference, it is still a silver medal winner and I would be happy to have it. If that makes sense...

On Doug, yea, I might have given the Ts a 9 or 10.

GR86 nose is so much better than the BRZ one. The situation from the first gen (where the BRZ had the better looking nose) has been reversed!
