Go back and review what @jawn told us. IIRC it's all about having a good stiff sidewall for the fun factor. He had some good tire suggestions.

Yeah, the RE71Rs are excellent tires... but they're definitely extremely grippy, and autocross-oriented. I think my buddy got one season out of his last set.

For the occasional autocross and a lot of street driving, you might be better served with something slightly less purposeful. It's why I recommend the S04 Pole Positions, and so many people recommend Pilot Super Sports. You'll get more miles out of it, and the car's grip limit won't be so high as to be completely inaccessible in *sane* street driving.

Meanwhile, while they might think the same thing about the slammed car, it stands out a lot more than a stock car with a wing. And while the uninitiated don't care, the initiated might be more offended that the slammed car can't go fast than that the winged car is otherwise stock.

I have made all of these points in different threads before but will sum up MY thoughts on mods here.

Doing mods that make the car look more "racecar" for FB or IG likes, slamming it silly, RBing or adding any other kit, creating a finely tuned track machine, boosting it to 600hp just for bragging rights or any other thing you wish to do are all equally legit reasons.

As long as...

You don't get pissy when others don't ohhh and ahhh over it and shower you with praise. (Many of the RB and stance guys are bad for this).

You are honest with yourself as to why you are doing it (I need that BFW on my stock car for the down force it creates I don't care how it looks)

You are honest with others (Ya I have Brembo brakes they are great. Just don't look to close under those covers)

You don't tell others that they are crazy for liking other things (This car needs 600HP to keep up with traffic and you are wrong if you say it is OK as is)

This is one reason I love ATL_BRZ's car. He has very few appearance mods, such as different tail lights, white sidemarkers, and other minor things. Every other mod was picked specifically for how it benefits his performance on a track, and he drives the hell out of it.

But that does not mean that those are what somebody else should want what he has. My lowering springs and exhaust do not do a thing for me but I like the way they look and sound. I could not care less about how they affect the handling since my basic street driving does not require any special suspension mods. The exhaust gives me zero performance but sounds so sweet to my ear.
He built what he wants, I built what I am after and the hellaflushedstanceyo guy builds what he wants and that is cool (with the disclaimer of the items I said above).

While I'm not as cool as @soulreapersteve when it comes to paying off the car incredibly fast....I'm no longer upside down on my loan for a private sale according to KBB and in 2 more payments I will be right side up for dealer trade as well.

Not planning on getting rid of the car but it just feels good to look at what you have paid vs what you started with. I've been doing some math and if just increase my monthly payment I should easily have the car paid off in 24-30 months. Look at me being an adult and adulting all over the place

There are alot of tires out there that split the difference very effectively. I am very happy with my Dunlop Direzza DZ102, I find its a grippier tire than stock, but its not super expensive and still has some of that fun factor that the Primacys had.

I would wager he's thinking more about cost effectiveness as opposed to use. It would be a waste if he bought expensive, grippy tires and then just drove back and forth to work every day, no?
Yup, you'd wager correct. Trying to split the difference between the two. While I am competitive by nature, I'm not "full racemode" if you get my drift. My simple goal is to not get last place at each event and learn how to control the car while having fun at the same time.

The S04's are probably what I'm going to get, looks to be the perfect split between DD fun and grippy fun on the course.

Buhahaha, I only paid it off fast because of my crappy interest rate! If it was at 3%, I would have kept it a while longer to keep boosting my credit score...
