Did the first oil change on the supercharger. ~9k miles on it. Had almost no fluid (~30ml of sludge) was what I was able to pull out. I put in 120ml of Motul and am cycling it through the system for 2 days and will rechange it prior to my dyno... just be wary guys and check your oil!!

I check mine once a month or before and after a track day. Everytime I check I end up needing to add just a little.

Well, it's been on two cars now, involved in one accident, and ran hard, so I'd expect to see it needing a change. I'm just glad I decided to change it before anything happened.

Even with the eyesight, you need to put a level on top of the supercharger in the middle and jack the ass end up until the level is level. Once it's level they you can check the oil level. If you're lucky like me, I just put half my car out of the driveway and it ends up making the supercharger level.

To change the oil you'll need to buy a supercharger syringe with a rubber or plastic hose attached to get the old stuff out. Just search for one on Google, Amazon, or eBay. I just did mine and it worked pretty well. My oil was partially nice looking and the rest was a little sludgy. The car ran much better after changing it at the same time I changed the engine oil. I got a little better MPG afterwards as well.

So I sent my blower out to be rebult by Jon Bond Performance a couple of weeks ago. It had started to leak gear oil out of the snout behind the drive pulley.

I called and spoke to Jon before shipping the blower out, and we discussed the issue of gear oil loss on this unit.

1) Once the unit gets heated up, pressure builds in the snout where the drive gears and oil are located.
2) That pressure needs to escape somewhere, and the path of least resistance is through the seals between the drive gears in the snout to the twin screws. As the pressure passes through here, some amount of oil is also able to get by the seals.
3) If the unit is run low on oil, an excessive amount of heat (and pressure) is developed. This leads to seal failure, which will allow more oil past the seals as described in 2).

So, it seems that this unit could benefit from some means to allow the built up pressure to be released without following the path described in 2), and without losing gear oil in the process.

Jon has a retrofit for the kit that does just that, and I'm having them put one on my system.

You can read more about it here: http://jonbondperformance.com/index....roducts_id=478

seems like an awfully expensive way to void your warranty. why not simply add a breather onto the filler point that will achieve the same thing?

@whataboutbob I guess that explains why I hear pressure release when unscrewing the oil dip stick

The warranty is only 12 months anyway, right? I think that most/all? of us are past this.

just seems unnecessary having to drill and tap a hole into the side of it when you could probably just put a breather on top

I just did a 2k run and no issues except some oil usage.

I'm just past 50k miles and have had the supercharger on there for almost 25-30k if I remember correctly. You'll be fine if you just check the supercharger oil once a month and keep it topped off, making sure the charger is level with the ground when doing so (jack back of the car up and use a level).

Other guys have been tracking their cars with it for years now and they are still ok as well.
