stock engine into a car that had been supercharged?

I've got a project on my hands and I'm hoping to get some advice. I... uhh... put my 2015 BRZ in the wall at NHMS. I picked up the shell of a 2013 Scion FRS and we've been swapping the engine over. (Partout here by the way). We got it to fire up, then it slowly died (running rough and RPM slowly dropping despite WOT) and now won't start. The FRS didn't come with an engine, but had been previously supercharged and had flex fuel. We're wondering if the ECU (ECM) and whatever tune it had for those power mods is just unhappy with the stock engine. Does that make sense? If so, any suggestions for how to proceed? Can a tuner reflash the ECU to stock? I don't believe I can swap the 2015 BRZ ECU into the 2013 FRS because of the immobilizer, right? Am I basically stuck going to Toyota/Subaru to replace the ECU?

Thanks,

I'd love to try that, but unfortunately I can't get the thing to start. It'll turn over, and we have fuel pressure, but it won't fire.

I have like zero tuning experience. Is it possible to revert the ECU to factory tune? Is that even answerable without know what tool was used to tune it? Can I swap the ECU from the BRZ into the FRS? Does that need the dealer to reset the immobilizer?

Thanks, and sorry for the ignorance in my questions.

That is out of my realm of experience.

There is this thread though.

Thanks,

Ok im a little confused as to what your doing the thread title seems to contradict what in post.

It appears your putting your old SC engine into the new shell with stock ecu. im assumong you removed the SC. But the SC engine may have bigfer injectprs or a different MAP sensor fitted. If your going to run the engine on stock ecu from new car the injectprs and map sensor need to be stock and it wont understand flex fuel so im also assumong you dobt have flex kit connected.

You can swap the ecu as same hardware but the calibration in a 2015 will cause a few issues on a 2013 car. It would be ok the other way round though.

Hmmm, not quite. The 2015 BRZ that I crashed was completely stock: no bolt ons or tune. Damage to the chassis and suspension was not worth repairing, so I bought the shell of a 2013 frs with no engine. That engine that previously inhabited this FRS had been supercharged and had flex fuel. So I assume the ECU in the 2013 FRS had a tune on it.

We moved the stock engine and engine harness from the 2015 BRZ into the shell of the 2013 frs. I have not tried to move the 2015 brz's ecu into the 2013 frs, because we expect the immobilizer would not like that. But the post above from NoHaveMSG suggests it may work.

Does that make things a little more clear?

ok while you could put your stock tuned 2015 ecu on the 2013 chassis with stock engine and resync security as per my post its still going to tgrow a couple of codes as the 2015 stock tune is not 100% compatavle eith a 2013. You could however buy or borrow a tactrix cavle and reflash the 2015 ecu with the 2013 ecu calibration .

You could also jist flfash the 2013 SC tuned ecu with a stock rom from a 2013 however ifs likely ecutek tuned and you would need an ecutek cable

Picked up a used 2013 ecu from a junk yard and tried to pair it. It fired a couple of times, but didn't start. One scan tool won't connect, and another finds no codes.

We tried this procedure: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102810

Any ideas?
