It isn’t weird to have one foot on the clutch and the other foot on the brake simultaneously?

[Sammy Hagar]One foot on the brake and one on the gas, hey
Well, there's too much traffic, I can't pass, no
So I tried my best illegal move
A big black and white come and crushed my groove again[/Sammy Hagar]

Oh.... you said clutch and brake. Ooops....

Lol at the pseudoscience presented by both sides in this debate in an attempt to rationalize their choice. Being out of gear in case you have a heart attack is laughable. I defy anybody to suddenly pop their clutch in any weather conditions and have the car shoot forward more that a couple of feet. Thinking it will rev to the max in first gear and take off down the road is just plain silly.
Either method is perfectly acceptable. I personally use both depending on circumstances. Clutch in and in gear if expected to be under a minute or so. Clutch out and in neutral if expecting to be longer. I may even use both at one stop.

How the hell do you drive without doing that all the time?

I just find it weird because I always drive with my feet on all 3 pedals at the same time.

It looks like we're going to have to fight for her (or maybe a race in our cars would be more appropriate).
