I followed the advice of putting my horn relay into the DRL slot and it worked, so I got Toyota to order me the relay (the correct one has one extra pin than the horn one) and now they work perfectly! Thanks
Welcome glad you got your DRL sorted. Did you have to pay for the relay? There is a TSB out so they should have given it to you FOC.

Hey Sav, do you have any more info on that TSB? I've never been able to get mine to work as the horn relay doesn't fit the DRL relay slot.

Hi

I think Ryan86 has posted it before. Else just ask your dealer to check for TSB's on the 86.

8 pages for running lights... hahaha... didn't know this was such a big issue for us Safricans. I just leave it on auto - when it's dark the lights come on and when I stop/park they go off. Enough for me

On another note... @Cheddaa what front splitter is that? And where did you get it?!

Well obviously it's enough if they're working as they should.

Did you ever get your dealer to get this sorted?
Taking the car in for a service and would be good to get all this sorted.

To be honest I haven't. I don't use the dealer to service the car and I didn't feel like paying a special visit just for the DRL's. If it was a reasonably simple thing like merely replacing a relay then that would have been fine, but it's a little more involved on my vehicle and I can live without them. Sorry not to be much help.

Picked my car up from service today.. Mentioned the TSB. They said no dice on the 2012 models.

Will have to drive to @sav with a spare headlight so he can show me some magic.

I got a headlight from a scrapyard in Jeppestown; R2000. Bought a brown 5-pin DRL relay from Toyota for R300; they are out of stock of the 4 pin relays.

Took 70 minutes to upgrade both lights. Easy as pie thanks to @sav pictures. Hardest part was pulling out the two wires socket from my own light's LED board. It's at an angle, through a very tiny hole, and you have to pull quite hard; but not so hard as to damage the circuit board.

Second hardest was re-plugging the now 3 wire socket back into the led circuit plug. I now have lots of respect for Gynecologists' skill and dexterity.

I bought from these guys. But the number I used was 0748216742.

It's cash only or EFT. I chose cash and picked it up one Saturday morning in Jeppestown. Guy met me at Jeppes Tyres in Jules Steet. It felt dodgy as hell, but I got my light and I'm still in one piece

Of course I'll help.
