Are the OEM clamps getting weak or is the hose crushed with time causing the tension to drop? My guess is the later. |

That interesting. I’ve got OEM clamps on a 24 year old car that doesn’t leak. Even after being removed a gazillion times. I’ve never had an OEM clamp wear out. I guess Subaru makes junk clamps or something. |

But anyway oem spring clamps loose tension , leak and rust. So when i go 4wd down into valleys along fire trails i prefer screw down clamps. |

Posting here so for all my modified BRZ fellow owners.
Subaru Orange Coast in Santa Ana 1. How long did the repair take? Exactly 1 week 2. Was a courtesy car provided for the duration of the repair? Yes, Some Chevy "Dad Car". Had 4G LTE in it, was pretty cool 3. What other parts were replaced with no additional labor (spark plug, etc)? Replaced spark plugs, shift fork with a Verus unit, replaced clutch/flywheel with an ACT SB8-HDSS. 3. What other parts were replaced with additional labor? Replaced driver side axle with a rebuilt Driveshaft Shop unit 4. Was the dealer mod-friendly? Very. I am highly modified. Turbo, ECU/Tune, Oil Cooler, Flex Fuel E85/Pump, Grimmspeed Lightweight pulley, much more to list. Stock block though. 5. Did they know what they were doing? lol Yeah, seems like it. My service rep used to own a race shop and an blobeye 500HP STI Its been about 400 miles since the recall, everything has been pretty solid. No issues, no leaks, nothing. |

Anyone done recall with San Diego dealership?
I'm in San Diego and just wondering if anyone has used a San Diego dealership for the recall repair. Which dealership was it and what was your experience like? Thanks!

I had mine done at Dulles Motor Cars in Leesburg VA, recall went ok but I DO NOT recommend this dealership. The service department is not friendly and they tried to stick me with the cost of a oil control valve (at a ridiculous markup) that they broke when putting the engine back in.
1. How Long did the Repair take? Exactly one week 2. Was a courtesy car provided for the duration of the repair? No, none was offered 3. What other parts were replaced with no additional labor? Driver side oil control valve for the VTC. I had to fight them over this since the connector was mysteriously broken off of my old valve (was intact when it drove into their shop). They agreed to no additional labor but wanted to charge me $200 for the $75 part. Took a lot of fighting and showing them other local Subaru dealer pricing before they agreed to drop the price. 4. What other parts were replaced with additional labor? Cam carriers were removed and resealed on both sides of the engine, cost around $500 in additional parts and labor. 5. Was the dealer mod-friendly? My engine is bone stock so I can't say much here, they didn't seem to have any issues getting my lowered car on the lift though 6. Did they know what they were doing? Seems like it, the tech left all of the 10mm bolts for the airbox and intake loose but aside from there weren't any glaring issues. He seems to have taken his time with the RTV on the front cover and cam carriers since it appears to be a clean job without a ton of excess (I was a dealership tech for 3 years and have seen some bad RTV jobs lol). I have no concerns about engine failure from excess RTV blocking passageways. I've put about 150 miles on the car since the work was performed without issues and don't anticipate any. Car runs and drives the same as it always has, and its nice to have everything cleaned and resealed on my 100k+ mile engine. |

kind of a confusing question. so, I blew my original motor (cuz I was dumb) and now have a 2015 engine in my 2013. My chassis VIN is affected with the recall, but not sure if the recall has been extended to any 2015 owners?
I told the dealership I have a 2015 engine so I dont think i need the recall done until it gets extended to the MY2015 cars...
