86 Drag car?!?!
What a waste of an AE86
Toyota Corolla AE86 Drag Car Runs 8s on Dragstrip By Erin Riches | December 24, 2009 Though the production car will almost certainly bear a different name, the Toyota FT-86 pays big homage to the rear-drive Corolla AE-86. These Corollas are regularly spotted at drift and autocross events, but this drag car is the most interesting one we've laid eyes on in a while. This car apparently started with the 2JZGTE 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-6 from the Supra, but has reportedly been modified to deliver about 800 horsepower -- 80 of which come courtesy of a nitrous shot. Now it's said to be capable of running a quarter-mile in the 8s. Speedhunters is running a gallery of the images originally posted on the Spanish-language blog, Boostiao, and either site is worth checking if you want to see more photos. |

i wonder if they're only using the nitrous to spool the turbo... that would make more sense to me than running 720hp with boost, and the last 80 with nitrous.

I wouldn't say its a waste of a hachi. I'm not a drag fan myself by any means, but I would be lying completely if I said I wouldn't enjoy myself being inside an 86 and going 0-60 in lightning fast fashion. Of course the 86 has better uses imho, but cool car nonetheless. They also get kudo's from me for making it a bloody panda! |

I was angry when I first entered, but it's so clean and 8's, I, I, think I can excuse this.
