That ass may need some work, but she feels amazing on the inside. I wouldn't change her.

The contracts are usually for 3 years. This may vary a bit but will never be under that. It is incredibly expensive to change equipment over for new products so the suppliers need contracts that long to ensure they are going to make money. This is why you usually see only small changes for several years in any vehicle. If they move forward with the second gen you can be pretty sure it will run for at least those 3 years. The Aztec is a great example of this. They knew in the first year that it was a total flop and still kept building them until the contracts were up. It is rumoured that in the last year they built and then crushed more than they sold.
Is this why recalled parts end up on multiple model years even after discovering they are bad?

Anyways, I think it's game on for 2nd gen.

Unless we have another Pandemic next winter also. Maybe the 20s is the bio-warfare decade.

They usually end up on several model years because it took that long to find out they are no good.
OH wait... That can't be right. There has to be some hidden conspiracy. They know they are bad but put them in anyway because the stock holders want the extra costs of recalls to use as tax deductions to offset the costs of their vast rooms of gold bullion that they are stock piling in order to ruin the lives of the poor downtrodden masses. The virus is all part of that plot because if they can kill off enough customers then the automotive companies can all go out of business resulting in even more tax breaks and pushing up the value of their stash.

People can believe what they want but damn, some come up with some weird shit and have the most amazing ways of rationalizing it. The scary part is that you know that what they make up in their head is probably exactly what they would do themselves if they could!

Yes "or buy another one" which is exactly why I put my money where my mouth is and did exactly that!
I actually might look at something else if the insurance does total the 86.

Whilst it was ok when stock, I only really loved it after modifying the suspension and putting on a turbo.

Been there, done that, time for a new project, maybe.....

Still....

Meh, that's a problem for next week.

What part of my question about the parts sounds like a conspiracy theory to you? It was a legit question to what is a self-proclaimed supplier expert.

Are you off your rocker? what does this have to do about tax breaks and stock holders. Merely asking if the contract held them to those parts even if they are problematic and result in TSB, recall, or other.

Sorry!
That wasn't directed at your question even though in hindsight it certainly appears to be!

It was just a great opportunity to poke the theorists and that was why the last part was so absurd.

The first part was the answer to your question. It really can take years for issues to show up with on road use that just simply stay hidden through all testing methods. Even when something is found it can still take years to run through the bureaucracy to get approval to fix it. There are just so many people involved in even the most mundane parts it can be baffling.

Don't let them get you!

It will be

Everything everybody here wants and they will all sell off their old ones for dirt cheap to get one

or

Nothing that anybody here wants and you won't be able to get a first gen without paying a premium although the public will love it

or

It will be middle of the road and the status quo will remain

or

It will just go away and be a brief footnote in automotive history

I can guarantee without a doubt that one of the above will be right!
I should write for the clickbaits so I can say "see, we called it".

Get ready guys. More "OMG did you hear!?" incoming. Although we are seeing "Final Edition" 86/ BRZ models so the MY'22 is likely legit, as if anyone couldn't assume that without "leaks."

TL;DR - "Ford Insider" gives insight into 6 future Toyota/ Lexus models. Including the new "GR86" with a 255 hp turbo motor. RWD and a better interior set to go on sale July 2021.

As always, info is incredibly suspect. Also, anyone could make these assumptions based on normal release cadences of automakers. Also, they reference the "leaked" dealer presentation slide that has been floating around for awhile now. So yea...

Whatever! Near production ready GR86 or whatever it will be will likely make appearance later this year or early next and we will finally know for certain all the details.

I found it really interesting the HP figure matches the 4cyl turbo supra HP. Even though it's still a Subaru-Toyota joint project, would they really use that bmw motor?
