Portable hard drive problem in car

Anybody know why I'm having issues using my portable hardrive to play music in my FRS? Is there a certain format or something that needs to be done to the harddrive? It was working at one point but now it says no music is on the hard drives eventhough there is music.

The drive probably has to be formatted in FAT or FAT32 to be detected.

But I wouldn't want a spinning hard drive in my car though, it'd get wrecked pretty quick.

Better off with a large flash drive, or go with an SSD if cost isn't a factor.

even those larger ones can be formatted to FAT (though the limit i think is 1.5 tb or something like that)

But like he stated, stick to flash media.

I have a 1.5tb WD passport hooked up in my FRS for almost a year with no problems.

He is right on that one it mostly likely needs to be reformated to a Fat32. Some devices cannot be detected if they are over a certain about of Gbs.

I understand that all the vibrations/bumps aren't good for the hard drive...but I've been using the same ipod classic (80gb hard drive) in my cars for at least 5 years now...however i just got the 2013 bespoke radio and it's having problems staying connected (probably the radio though)

maybe it's time to switch to a wd passport that i have laying around

Which bespoke do you have? The early one with zypr or the newer one with aha?

I have a 1tb...how did you connect it? I have it formatted to exFat and connected directly to the USB port and getting nothing. Do I need another power source for the drive?

Thanks!
