Old O2 sensors were hard to take off without damage when I was replacing the header. I agree (and picture shows) that they were probably damaged.

I know OFT tune disables the CEL for O2 sensor after the cat. But it should have given a CEL at least for the pre-cat sensor instead of mixing a bad AFR.

This thread should be sticky to show how a bad mod ends.

At least as a warning. If your not willing to do your homework don't mod your car. Engines are not cheap and the labor will be worse.

Had a shop install the headers for me. I guess they messed up the O2 sensor

Hey I'm back. Had to budget and save but I got a new motor put in. BRZ is running awesome. Got a used motor with 40k miles, and got a proper ECUTEK tune done. Car drives great. Very expensive lesson, but I am glad I decided not to sell my car and fix it instead. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me try and fix this problem, and thanks to everyone who had smart comments and jokes. I'm still embarrassed about this. But thats it regarding mods now. Just gonna focus on maintenance.

Happy you got through your ordeal. Hopefully you are better for the experience, and you can put it behind you.

Yeah, good work on figuring out next steps. Curious - how did you locate a motor and how much was it? I've seen prices a bit all over the place, from $2k ish to $4k.
