The other day I received a survey from Subaru.

It was asking what I liked and what I'd liked to see changed/improved with the BRZ.

Mostly dealt with the Infotainment and HVAC.

My bet is it is a body kit on the current US model.
Nah, you can tell the overall shape and main panels are a bit different to the regular 86, it actually is quite close to the Best Car renders. Totally believable as the next gen, and as already noted, totally possible this has been testing in secret on Toyota’s private track for months prior to being tested stateside.

Probably still a few fake panels still on this car, but I can see enough to say, it’s close to the gen 1 but not as good looking IMO. The bonnet is now a bit tall and flat looking, more Supra like, which means the wheel bumps that arched up over the front wheels are gone. Not terrible, just different.

It's almost like sports couples, sedans, trucks, and crossovers all use the most optimal shapes and graphics to hit intended design goals, such as efficiency, usability, and marketability, to the point that different vehicles from different brands wind up being highly comparable.

This continues to be shocking to people.

We are in the era where everything is sterile. Nothing is innovative or unique. It's the same with phones. Everyone wants to copy the iPhone, so they give up on innovation.

I don't know, a gen1 with some wrap does not equate to gen2 in my books.

The excitement people get from such dubious and vague intel is astounding.

Anyways, maybe someone will get lucky, and they will release a car that "almost" matches what they have been advertising.

Until then I'm not interested or excited about a car with vinyl wrap.

so are you saying someone took their 86 and made it look just like the bestcar render and wrapped it in camo to just troll the internet?

You should have replied that the HVAC system needs a new huge fan that is powered by exhaust gases and directs air into the engine instead of the cabin.

I'd say this car is akin to the NB Miata. Same body lines as the original, different headlight/tailight and a few new lines, curves here and there.

No, although that is a cool story, what I'm saying is everyone is coming to conclusions from random heresy and innuendo.

To me it looks like it's just a refresh, like the 17 was, maybe, maybe not.

I could be wrong though, as you said, it could be someone wrapped a stock car with some aftermarket bit, if so they would have just won the intetnet.

Here's hoping.

Until I can go to the dealer and drop coin, it is all wishful thinking, unicorns and rainbows.

yeah, this is only a recent development... history is circular. which is exactly why all these recent calls for striking things from history class is such a terrible concept...
