It's a little annoying that my first week of ownership has been spent dealing with TPMS, so please bear with me.
I found a thread from a few years ago with a similar issue, and this post in particular was interesting: Quote:
- The second gen has a new OE part for the sensor, but the first gen OE part still works - The sensor that Tire Rack sells may be the same as the first gen OE part - This shouldn't be so f-ing difficult Both the dealer and the tire shop were able to read the ID codes, but now I'm wondering if they were able to actually register (pair) the codes with the car. I'm still going to wait for more information before doing anything. However, if I have to pay to get new sensors installed, I'd rather just use the second gen OE part rather than keep messing around. |

Check the owner's manual, it clearly says that new sensors must be registered in the car, by going to a dealer.
It might be possible to "clone" the OEM sensors in such a way that the car thinks those are the original sensors though. |

Yes, I did see that. Which makes me think the dealer didn't register the codes.

Has anyone been able to get the '22 BRZ showing pressure from TPMS sensors from the 1st gen car? I recently swapped my 105k '13 BRZ for a '22 and my winter wheels are not showing pressure, but the dealer is the one who swapped them on (before I picked up the car) and they certainly claimed to have paired the sensors. I am occasionally but not very often getting the low tire pressure idiot light.
If no one has it working, I'm not going to worry about it yet. I would assume that if that's the case, the winter wheels will need a different TPMS sensor for full functionality.

Do you know for sure that the earlier ones can work for reporting pressure?

Someone on FB posted that the first gen sensors will work. In my case, the TPMS light is always on as if the sensors aren't registered with the car.

Well, after some hunting, I found the TPMS reset button, and tried switching as the manual says (3x within 3 seconds); nothing happened. Nothing also happened when I tried to initialize it by holding it down for 3 seconds. So, who knows... but I don't have a low pressure warning light most of the time. It's only come on maybe 2-3 times that I've noticed with a little over 200 miles of driving.

I went back to my dealer and had the ID codes registered with the car again... No luck. And I switched between both ID sets.
Back to waiting for more feedback from others. However, the first gen sensors seem to be flaky based on what I've read. Maybe that's why they changed parts? |

Update: Tire Rack has fitments for the second gen now. The TPMS sensor is the Pacific T6 and not the T5 for the first gen.

Good info. I don't suppose anyone's ordered any and found out for sure they they actually work yet...

I am getting ready to find out.
My Enkei wheels / tires / T6 sensors arrived yesterday and I will be mounting them tomorrow or Sunday when it gets a little warmer in my garage. Will let everyone know then. |

Follow up:
I am going to mount my new wheels tomorrow. Since my OEM wheels are registered to the car now, should I push the TPMS button in the glovebox so that it switches to the second set of wheels and sensors (the Enkei's)? |
