****ADvice REquired: Built/vs/Stock***
So here is the dilemma:
Currently running 11-12 psi on 93 pump, and doing fine. Should i begin investing in a built shortblock ? or continue riding on the stock block ? Both forms of the engine are running well and hold power with proper tuning. So what would you choose and why ? |

stay stock until you have a reason to build it up.

Build it now if you plan on making more power in the future, if you are good where it is maybe let it ride. It will be much cheaper to do it now than after a catastrophic failure.

if you feel like you want more power, which i assume you would want then go ahead building your block.
if not then just stick to your setup ![]()

All good points.
Hate to say it, but i wanna have the power to leave Z06s, GT500s, and just about anything else that's factory fast. I just don't wanna have to worry about it ripping apart, and being 10k vs 3-5k in build up/repair. |

If its stock, it usually gets walked on. 350z, 370z, mustang gt, s2k, 240s, Blah blah blah.... Its hard to find stock high HP cars at events though. Surprisingly, most people just move away when I pull up by them on the street. FR-S/BRZ'S have a low HP reputation on the street.

I think you misinterpreted what I wrote. The cars I listed at 12 psi, you'll walk away from. I'm sure there were more but not enough challengers. I did have quite a run in with a 2.0T genesis. It was nodded quite a bit and when I was at 8psi, we went back to back to back. Very fun time to say the least. My car wasn't running perfect either but I didn't have any real mechanical fears so I kept going with him. Good time.
