AEM Cold Air Intake

This has been around for at least SEMA but I think a couple guys are staying away cause the design and setup very much like the Airaid which made like -20 HP

would be interested in seeing someone dyno one tho

where did you get that information from?

I would like to see the AEM dyno charts that shows -20 hp hood down. otherwise its just unsupported speculations.

from what i can tell, the AEM setup is closer to the injen setup than Airaid.

the difference between AEM from others is that just like injen, they discard the unnecessary sound tube extension. however, unlike Injen, they take air from bumper OE location (Injen takes it from engine bay) and it have a dedicated AMF correction module..

PS. I have it installed on my car. butt dyno says its good. still trying to schedule a real dyno

See how I said it was the Airaid that made -20hp.

Why do I think the design is closer to Airaid instead of Injen well if you look at the pictures its pretty clear.

Injen. MAP Sensor is in stock location still. No enclosure. Sucks air from engine bay


Airaid. MAP Sensor gets relocated into the enclosure. Suppose to suck air from the slot.


AEM. MAP Sensor gets relocated into the enclosure. Suppose to suck air from the slot.


No need to come to the defense of your intake I'm not shooting it down just stating my opinion and said myself that I would like to see a real independent dyno. I'm just trying to save people money cause I blew 250 on my Airaid lol

Thank you for not taking it personal, I wasnt trying to call you out, but I thought you have some new information.

I think one of the major difference between Airaid and AEM is that AEM have a MAF correction, where as airaid have a weird tube design, the location of its MAF sensor also fools the system into thinking it had more air at the throttle body than the actual air volume at the throttle body.

No worries! This is a community we should be able to discuss things like adults every once in a while. I hope you do dyno the intake as I am curious I believe AEM made clains of 8hp.

I'm weary of this. I've seen tuners have to correct the MAF calibration up to 15% for cars with identical mods....

I use the aem intake and i have no complaints no cells, been running since January. Definelty no loss in power , you would feel a -20hp loss, in fact butt dyno says gain. Haven't taken a good dyno yet. Just stating my opinion for all.

I just hope it doesn't make its power by making the car run too lean. I haven't seen a third party dyno showing the AFR curve yet....

No, i'm not talking about the intake. If you click on the link it should be showing a image of an AEM CAI that looks as though it routes in behing the bumper to where the Scion badge is.

I only see pics of the intake (not installed). I think it's just a poor job by the re-seller by using a generic picture. Let me know if I'm wrong, but I don't think AEM makes any other intake for our platform.

Could be poor photos. None the less it caught my eye earlier because I hadn't seen anything other than the regular intake.
