I'm sure Toyota/Subaru is going to fix this issue with a recall and those who have already purchased their vehicles will just have to bring them in and get the seats replaced.

I'm paranoid that someone will still grab the hanging strap and pull it to either pull the seat up or pull it back. Though, to do that they'd have to be using the back seat... still paranoid though.

I honestly see it becoming a recall or at least a TSB. If not the strap ripping off, the wear from the belt continuously rubbing the seat and wearing down the material should be enough for them to revise it.

This is all speculation of course, so who knows if even one button unbuttons. Even if you could, I feel like If you were driving with the windows down that thing would flop/whip around like crazy. I would expect that to be pretty annoying.

I noticed at the Scion drive event that they weren't using the straps. They just had the seat belt hanging loose.

Love your optimism too bro. Not counting on it. Look up FJ Cruiser Fender bulges/tears. Toyota still won't acknowledge that defect, yet they change the design of the front end for 2010+ hmmm. Unfortunately my FJ is just another victim. Got a bulge on the driver side fender.

Ugh, could've swore I've seen multiple times that it is held on by a button. I don't think it's speculation at all.
