GR86 30k-40k

Is the FMR2 going to appeal to the performance winter driver market by using front-wheel drive architecture tuned on a damp Nurburgring?

My god. There's a delay because there's a delay. There isn't a conspiracy behind everything. To Toyota, this is just another car. If the Camry was delayed, it wouldn't be because suddenly they had the urge to add cupholders or better fuel economy to make their consumers happier.

It'll utilize the first ever reverse drive engineering where you can rotate the cabin 180 degrees and switch between RWD and FWD to best suit the road conditions.

also...does anyone know what that new 2021 CUV was supposed to be? Was that the Corolla Cross which hasnt gotten any attention outside of ASEAN markets?
but hasn't it been totally accurate? Hybrid only Sienna & Venza came out true, and the timelines were pretty close to their launches. New CUV is still undetermined, could be Corolla Cross, could be new CUV Toyota is developing with Mazda, could be next gen CHR... 86 being launched this summer makes most sense anyways with the GR Yaris launch being over and done with. And all the rumors that I'm aware of still point to the new Tundra coming out by the end of this year..

I heard that the delay is because they have retooled the GR86 as a kind of hybrid with a small battery to keep weight down.

This was a leak to comfort the fanboys here. Yes I am serious. Why? Great PR! Plus, chip shortage and covid...why not do a little delay. Yes, it was planned partially. They probably planned the delay last fall and I guarantee it is to make modify front fasica and headlights to closer align with Supra just like a few photoshops. Lil bump in power and suspension tuning and we are golden...all the while it makes them look like they care and listened to their customers.

So how are they bumping the power? Ignoring emissions? Get real. This will be springs and cosmetics. Again.

Last I heard, Toyota wanted to give the car a large-scale release event, something that can't be done with CoVid still around. So they were giving themselves a bit of time until the whole things starts to blow over (which certainly sounded optimistic).

As everybody else says, there's a delay because there is one, but a last-minute engineering change seems highly unlikely, unless we're talking about veeery small suspension tuning stuff, that would likely have been planned for a long time.

And where did you hear that? On here? From some site speculating? There has not been one single official word from Toyota on the subject. Just a bunch of people guessing at what is going on. Many of these guesses seem to involve long convoluted and slightly bizarre theories on why it is "delayed" when the supposed leaked slide that everybody trusted so much before clearly shows a release in SUMMER of 21. It is not yet summer no matter how nice it is out. By using the vague date of "summer" they still have five months left where they can release it and still be within their plan. Just because Subaru released the BRZ now doesn't mean that was ever Toyota's schedule.
