it's so weird to walk into a basement and see a cavernous room off to the side where you know there's a 7,000 pound suburban parked on top of it...

this reminds me, have you seen this video?

the guy is a little irritating and long winded, but it's balanced out by the panoramic machine shop shots and my jealousy.

Let my neighbors borrow the snowblower. They caught their door mat and it seized the auger. No good deed goes unpunished...

The bolts are factory, the issue is the 2'x4' rubber mat tangled around it. I'm going to have fun getting all that shit out. The bolts breaking wouldn't have helped in this case

well at least they didn't try removing it while it was running.

know a guy that attempted to clear a clogged chute while it was still running. thought he was quick enough. nearly lost his hand. iirc, he lost parts of feeling in most of his arm from it.

That really sucks! I'm sorry that your generosity is going to cost you. Still it was the "neighborly" thing to do.

I used to be in Sales. When ever someone would convince ne to do something extra or special, it would always come back to bite me.

Later, during a sales meeting, we decided to make a sign for the office:. "NO SPECIAL DEALS".

a lot of customers ask me to do side work on the same job that they or their contractor hired my company to do work. i asked one if he ever heard the term "biting the hand that feeds" and he looked at me weird.

how could that possibly go wrong?!?

perfect example of a house that was put together in boxes to tick off checkmarks.

is realestate really that expensive in ontario? looks like a generous $500k house in my area.
I agree, cramped. I love the idea of the huge wall of south facing windows but, what's with them lighting up a long skinny hallway?

Yes, house prices be crazy up here. This is what $500,000 gets you in the village where my mom grew up. This bungalow is about 20 minutes closer to Toronto than the house I showed above.

He wasn't too bad. My vision of a shop is modest because I only think of it when I wish to make a one-off gizmo. The reality is that I haven't yet sent work to the local guys I know professionally so I really can't justify the cost of setting up my own stuff.

I have 3-phase available literally a block from my house but I'll get by with my drill press and belt sander for now.

We have a clapped out bridgeport I have saved and tucked away at work in case I get a place that I can set it up in. Wish I could pull it out and work on it now but we don’t have the space.
