Personally, I don't like his triple setup since it seems too large and would run the double setup with an ATI AC vent pod to run three gauges.

The Block8head single pod is what I went with.

Two issues though:

* order to delivery was around 3 months and if you go on his FB page, there are people who have been waiting even longer who have to poke and prod him to remind him of their order (typical for one-man production shops like this)
* the hole access for the cables wasn't large enough for mine and caused the cables to keep hitting the interior vent tube (not sure what else to call it) and the only way to make the cables fit without getting squashed was to enlarge the access hole ourselves. _Maybe_ fancier routing would've helped, but the way we did it it just wouldn't work otherwise.

As others have said, those tabs are not designed to detach from the a-pillar. So if you do remove them, you're never getting them back on.

Also, my opinion is that if this isn't a racecar that you're stripping down, removing safety features that are there to protect you from serious injury or death in case of an accident has never made sense to me. When you build a track car, sure you're removing these things, but you're also adding other measures to compensate for this (roll cages, 5-point harness, helmets, etc). Just because it isn't a daily doesn't mean you should take away your protection simply for the sake of aesthetics. Just because you're a safe and smart driver doesn't mean someone else won't plow into you anyway.

Plan for the worst-case scenario and keep the safety features in tact. Other alternatives are better suited to your situation. My $0.02.

While I like keeping all my safety features personally, if its "wrong" to remove them its just as bad an idea to own a car that doesn't have them. If its ok to drive a car from <2010, which most people do (the avg car is 11 years old in the US) then its really up to you. A BRZ with no side curtains is still a heck of a lot safer than an NC Miata. Nevermind an RSX, Integra, <8th gen civic, etc.

And a BRZ with side curtains is safer than all those. Wait, you already have that! Awesome!

That logic still doesn't hold well, since you have to compare what you're doing to outdated technology in the first place. Seriously, reconsider giving up your safety features just to put in gauge pods.....

Either that or there'll be a much similar moment for OP where the one time they actually need it, it's no longer there...

(yes yes 1 in a million or whatever, but you never know)

This looks really nice, does it mess with the functionality of the vents?

I'm considering a double pods.
