Yea I didn’t think so.

Flow forming aligns the crystal structure of the barrel through heat and pressure. It’s not the same as forging but it gives you much much better material properties on the barrel than a cast wheel. The barrel is the most highly stressed part of the wheel so it helps a lot.

I’ve bent almost every aftermarket cast wheel I’ve owned. I’ve never bent a flowformed wheel. My Apex wheels on my BMW have taken a beating that sometimes I was convinced they would be bent. They’re still perfectly straight and true.

Not necessarily, but I could be wrong. Just because the pockets on the back are CNC cut doesn’t mean the wheels are forged. It could simply be that they make a 4 lug version of that wheel as well. I highly doubt Toyota would offer a forged wheel for this car. You can probably count the number of cars that have OEM forged wheels available on 2 hands.
You go ahead and think what you’d like. I’m an Application Engineer and materials science is part of it. Flow forming does nothing to the hub.
Flow forming =/= forging.

I never said it did anything to the hub. The barrel gets flow formed. Coincidentally the barrel is what bends in most cases you break a wheel on the street.

I also never said that flow forming is the same thing as forging. You get a much stronger than cast barrel for a fraction of the extra cost of forging. For a street setup it’s the way to go IMO.

From the articles i've read, Forged > flow formed > cast when it comes to strength, weight savings, and price.

Yep, that’s a fact supported by testing. Only thing left up to opinion is wether flowformed wheels are worth a few hundred dollars more than cast ones. Then again, forged wheels aren’t worth it for 90% of the population either so YMMV.

They are but they are much lighter and are one of the few 17's that clear OEM brembos as well as most 4pot/2pot aftermarket bbk's

Hi

Have you checked the weight of the alloys?

Each of the 17X7.5 TRD gunmetal gray wheels are around 4 lbs. lighter than the 17X7.0 OEM wheels that Toyota used on my 2020 Hakone. That puts them in the 16.5 - 17.0 lb. range.
