Wow, I thought about just tightening it, but never was sure that it might help. I'll definitely try it, thanks!

I'm right along with you. I've had almost the exact same situation as you. Car has been serviced 6+ times initially for oil leak at the timing cover, after the 2nd repair started smelling oil again and they put a new seal within the hour. Then I noticed a loud clicking noise and determined it was the fuel pump. Also still smell oil every now and then so They are checking on that while it's being serviced. They are replacing the fuel pump right now. I am looking into compensation possibly an extended warranty at no charge and an engineer to evaluate the condition of my engine instead of a 17 year old technician at my local Subaru dealership applying temporary fixes. I believe All of these problems route from the factory oil seal put on the car when it was manufactured. And my time window for taking action is running out, as lemon claims can only be made within 1 year of purchase, and my 5 year powertrain warrant is quickly running out. Sorry to rant but I am seriously disappointed with the vehicle and how cheaply it was made. I never would have got the car if I would have know I'd be dealing with these problems. I'd love to modify the car but I'm scared to put the $800 headers on because of an expensive part breaking like the fuel pump they are replacing, and then not honoring my warranty. Anyone else in this predicament? Smh Vehicle: 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited M/T 20,000 miles Stock Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

@Jyoung1996 I can definitely confirm with you there is a noise out of the ordinary there. And I agree with your laments, I'm just glad I don't have any serious issues on my car yet.

Hey guys im new here i just picked up a 2013 silver ignition frs 6 speed mt with 52k miles and unfortunately it has an oil leak; no oil on the floor but its all over the timing cover is there a simple way of fixing this or will the engine have to come out and get resealed?

Hello @Silverfrs86 ...... and welcome to FR-S ownership and ye ol forum .....
Yep, your engine is seeping oil for sure. If it is out of warranty, I would suggest that you spray some degreaser on the area and wipe it off best you can. After a few miles, check and see where it's seeping. Is it just around the dip stick tube or along the seam between the block and cam chain cover? Then you can decide how to proceed. If it's just the dip stick tube, maybe it can be fixed without removing the engine. If it leaking at the seam, the engine is usually removed to re-seal the cover. OR You could just let it seep ....... the engine won't bleed to death. Hell, back in the day, if an engine didn't leak somewhere, either it was out of oil (borrowed that from @Tcoat) or the owner just wasn't payen attention. Ever wonder what causes those spots of messed up asphalt in parking lots ..... ?? They weren't ALL cause by Harley Davidsons parking there ..... humfrz |

Yeah, I'm with @humfrz. That's just weeping a tad. Spray it down with some degreaser and hose it off. It took a long time to get that way. Once you find the source you can probably just wipe it down once in a while with a shop rag and some wd-40.
