OK, I'll relate a back-in-the-day story that happened in your area.

Back in BC (before children) (in the late 60s) our neighbors and my wife an I would go out to eat quite often. So, the neighbor girl wanted to go to this restaurant in Los Gatos named The Cats (just off of the Santa Cruz highway).

We got there and were seated in a balcony section overlooking the main dining area. We had just ordered when the girl exclaimed "there is something weird about this place". BTW, she was Italian and quite excitable. Her husband asked, what do you mean. She said well, just look around ...... there is mostly men in here and they seem awfully friendly to each other.

Sure enough, she was correct .....

She stood up and said "we're leaving right now!". Her husband told her that he was not going to leave and pay for a meal that we didn't eat. She said, "I'm leaving". Her husband said, OK, why don't you just go wait in the car. She said, "but what if I get attacked..??". He said, well if all those guys are what you think they are, you have nothing to worry about.

I suggested she change chairs with me so she wouldn't have to look at what they were doing. She did, but, kept looking ...... saying she couldn't help herself.

Actually, the food was very good ...... but, we never went back there.

@humfrz ha! The classic "we went to a gay bar but didn't realize it was a gay bar until it was too late" excuse. I call shenanigans and think you knew what it was the whole time.

That's funny. The Cats hasn't been a gay bar since I've been an adult. Just a decent BBQ joint. We always heard rumors growing up.

One time we stopped at the Cats for drinks and there was this guy, totally wasted, at the piano making noise. Then I took a closer look, looked at the bartender and said, " is that..". She stopped me and sadly said yes, and they had a cab coming. It was Neil Young. He lives in the area.

The Cats was closed for a few years. New owners had quite a battle with ADA with a 200 year old building, but finally got it re-opened about 2 years ago. Good BBQ and Steaks.

I'm with you. I was never a fan. That was about 1989. I'm sure he hasn't been sober since.
