air intake temperature and UEL headers

Hi, everyone!

2 things

1. What is the normal air intake temperature for the frs/86?
2. I had custom catless uel headers (no leaks when checked) made and now its a really loud "rumble" I can also hear the engine. Is this normal? Had this done to my celica, it was loud but not like this rumble

*custom pipping done for intake
*HKS filter
*custom full exhaust (headers to tip)
*no tuning done yet

Any suggestions/input/clarification with regards to data provided are open

Thank you!!!

yeah hut mostly for the added torque. Yet to tune it though. But the sound is louder than I estimated hence the concern haha

Was hesitant about this one. you have any Idea of the normal IAT (Tropical climateif that helps - ambient usually at 30-32 C)

What intake or modifications to the stock do you have? plastic inlet tubes are getting bad rap for being quite the heatsoak; some intakes fare better than others.. I can't exactly comment on those temperatures so I will leave it to someone else who can give some accurate #s

but in traffic or standstill these cars' IATs shoot up due to the buttoned-up sealed engine bay.. even my Grimmspeed intake shoots past 100-120+F in traffic on a 20C day here in washington ... but when going, temps can fall to 40-60Fahrenheit

Have you ever measured intake temps? I have!

In fact, I have monitored intake air temps over a wide variety of conditions on my MR2 turbo...a mid engined, turbo car. At normal highway speeds, (> 35mph) intake air temps never exceed ambient.

In heavy traffic, intake temps never exceed ambient by more than 3-5F.

I suggest you actually do some measurement before you make a lot of assumptions.

I have, with my Grimmspeed intake on our actual vehicle, and I see temps when moving within 5 F of ambient. However at a stop it definitely climbs. It returns to close to ambient very soon after getting rolling again, but it's always higher than ambient in city driving.

Stainless steelpiping from filter to tb, as well as the headers and full exhaust (although I think the last two have nothingto do with it )

Right now the ambient air is 34C and the highest my IAT got (includin traffic conditions was 63C!
