2015 RS1.0 to 2017 retrofit

Thought it would be to share my project with you guys, still a few more components missing but I think it’s coming together nicely
Most of these parts were plug and play, with the exception of the gauge cluster which had to be reprogrammed prior to actual installation
But here are some pics

These are the oem headlights from a 2017 BRZ which I had the housing blacked out

Now that 2018 brz came out and seem to have an upgraded headunit I’m going to try to get my hands one on for my car in the near future
I’m actually working on getting the 2017+ performance pack oem brembo kit so I’ll keep this thread posted with a more of those parts I will be adding

I also have a few other misc items installed as well, such as subaru homelink Auto dimming compass mirror, and the vanity mirror lights from a brz but these weren’t even worth a picture

Feel free to send any questions my way if you guys are curious on any of these parts and how installation came about

Nice work!!. I’m interested in the gauge cluster swap. I have a 17 86. Where did you get it, what’s the part number? How much?. How did you go about getting it programmed?. Same with the steering wheel buttons. Part number? Did you have to buy a harness?.. Do share!

I among a ton of other people are going to be interested in the Gauge swap. I know clock spring needs to be changed for the steering wheel. What exactly needs done for programming the cluster? Does the car need to be available (Mine is currently apart for engine rebuild and upgrades), also are the steering wheel controls working?

Yea steering g wheel controls all work and yes that did require the 2017 dash harness and 2017 oem clockspring

Ask far as the cluster swapping goes, it’s only able to be one on push to start veihicles due to an immobilizing mechanism that key start cars have

For the programming the dealership did it for me and also sourced the parts, the wheel set up and cluster you’re looking roughly at mid $2,000 USD after all said and done

This is interesting, and a slight disappointment. I purchased a cluster already haha. Guess I will have one for sale soon.

Is this something that was tried and failed, or something the dealer told you?

Thank You for the info!

BRZ.

I am trying to find a good wiring diagram or dealer service manual for 2017 BRZ or Toyota 86 with digital display to check out the wiring. I am having a hard time though.

Edit: Paid for Toyota TIS access to see the updated wiring diagrams and such. Nothing I see points to internal changes that wouldn't allow it to work, as well as the steps to program a new Gauge Cluster have not changed. Still kind of holding hope.

I also found the FB post, seems they were all saying that it wouldn't work without a reprogram. So I think it might still work. I will keep my hopes up.

I have a 17 and have ben looking at parts to make the swap(if possible).
Found these two for the gauge for the 17 860:
SU003-07448 and SU003-07449
Not sure whats the difference.
For the switch i found this part number:
SU003-07459

Im hoping all I would need is to get the gauge programmed.

This build looks great! I am interested to know how to managed to wire in the headlights. I was thinking of swapping in 2017 BRZ headlights on my 2013 BRZ.

Local dealer told me that when they order the cluster, the right mileage and VIN is needed as the cluster gets “burned” with that info before is shipped. This is the primary reason why this is a non-returnable item. When received is just a matter of swapping it out. Can anyone confirm this?
