Ultra is actually right on the money. All the add sponsors pulled out once they realized they wouldn't be getting their full-value. Paywall fills that gap. So much stuff for the Olympics was cancelled due to covid and everyone talking about boycotting or skipping 2020 and the delays. Bandai was supposed to unveil their 1:1 moving Gundam (anime robot) and have it at the opening ceremony. All gone.

Epic games and yes, I do believe in miracles. Somewhere, there must be audio and video of Maestro MuseChaser.

Toyota pulled out of the games due to public pressure in Japan for having the games at all during a state of emergency. 83% of Japanese are opposed to the games. 43% wanted them canceled, 40% wanted them postponed.

They only pulled their Olympic advertising in Japan.
Didn't do anything beyond that.

They are still an Olympic partner and and still airing Olympic themed ads in the rest of the world.

i've never been on a commercial flight. i really don't see a reason to ever do it anymore. just seems like it's a constant hassle for little benefit. i'd rather drive, even if it's across the country.

I feel exactly the same way after a lifetime of flying. It sucked before the <cough> Patriot <cough> Act. It's become a stream of insults ever since.

You're also a Wookie, so that might have something to do with it.

Though I, too would rather take 3 hours of driving than add an hour or two to flying. Hence why I usually flew in and out of Vegas (direct) instead of LA (1 stop) when I was flying to California every month or so. Plus Vegas usually gave me free upgrades to Camaros and Mustangs.

I wouldn't have necessarily felt the same, til I made the trek to Denver in June. The flights both ways and the airports were _awful_, despite going on an early morning flight to DEN.

Driving would've been way more fun, if not for having the new puppy with me on the way back.

I used to fly everywhere in the pre-9/11 days, even when I didn't work for the airline the current COVID19 variant shares a name with. When I worked for the airline my whole family non-revved everywhere (again before 9/11).

Now, I can't remember the last time I flew anywhere on a commercial airline. Flying for me means at least 4 hours + flight time. (1 hour to get to the airport, have to be at ATL 2 hours early, and then 1 hour at the destination airport to get rental, etc). In the end, flying doesn't save me any time if where I'm going is a day's drive from Atlanta, which is a pretty big area.
