Have you tried running those pads with Ti Shims.. with my '19 SS 1LE I could see a dramatic drop in temps (~40 F IIRC) .. I was worried that if would affect the rotor life (being a heavy car) but it didn't . Most likely because it eliminates the fade and so the pad drag in braking zones. Anyhow, congrats again!

The fluid degradation is such that shims won't do anything. Plus, CSG pads already have thermal insulation built in!

The next weakest point is the rotor, but all this just verifies what we know from the 13-20 cars!

In my case shims made a huge, quantifiable difference most likely because the aftermarket pads (Raybestos ST47/ST45s) didn't have the insulation layer as you mentioned.

As you may be already aware Motul RBF 600 lowered their dry/wet boiling temp ratings so I switched to Castrol SRF a couple years ago that and shim combined solved most of my fade issues.

See below for before (2017 Camaro SS 1LE - same pads and Motul RBF 600 without ti shims) and after (2019 Camaro SS 1LE Castrol SRF and Ti shims) ..of course it's a much heavier, faster car with very sticky tires but same conditions and track. After that I didn't have to see purple calipers after a first event anymore

Are 1st gen and 2nd gen brake system is interchangeable? I am planning to get BBK, coilovers, anti roll bars for now and am not planning to touch the engine so it would be amazing if many of the things are the same so I wouldn't have to wait for them to become available

@glamcem the reason I use multiple temp stickers, is that the trailing end of the caliper will be significantly hotter than the leading edge; that side has more exposure.

Based on your temp sticker location, your temps may be higher than you realize. 50C spread isn't uncommon across the caliper, especially if you're using the SC3R in wider sizes.

You're correct. Because of that I tried to use the sticker on the piston side but because of the curvy shape of that it didn't stick well.. to confirm the delta I used a laser temp gun and it was still remarkably lower than my previous readings. Discoloration of the caliper and the improved brake fades were also noticeable.

Using multiple temp stickers make sense, I will try that next time.

How about the brake/brake lines compared to Gen 1, are those interchangeable? TIA

After an extensive measuring session, we've determined that the rear is dimensionally identical, when it comes to track width, RLCA, etc.

What's different is the rear quarter configuration. The width of the quarter is the same, but due to the new shape and mounts, wheel fitment will be affected.

Are you sure about track width? According to Subaru is increased 0.4inches, also RLCA has a new part number.
