I used craft foam to fill the holes, then wrapped the whole shelf in alcantara.

For comparison...

Each to his/her own... I went with a single of the Mustang light... seems to be sufficient; no one has rear-ended me (crossing fingers!)

Is the mustang light cheaper than the intec version that's plug and play?

Yes... "Mustang" light is about $55. Keep in mind that how the "housing" comes in contact with the rear window is way different than the Intec light. The Mustang light housing uses 3m tape on all four edges to mount to the glass. Install takes a bit of care...a steady hand... and where the tape sticks to the glass WILL be visible from outside. That's why I added the HIC visor -- to "shade" the housing and keep it less visible.

And... if you are planning on tinting the rear window... do it first.

Please tell me how to mount this permanently. I have the intec high mount, and have tried gorilla tape, and a fresh strip of 3m to no avail.

Thanks In Advance
