The popping noise is usually the spring winding up and releasing as the strut is turned. If the upper mount bearing is working you shouldn't have this, but if you don't have a bearing in the upper mount it's expected. Could be as simple as cleaning/greasing the upper mount bearing. You can buy thin needle bearings to put on above or below the spring to stop it as well.

So, After looking at everything, I am wondering if anyone has info on the difference between B6 + RCE Vs. B14 The cost is almost exactly the same.
Just curious I guess, because they are comparable in price and spring diameter. After the comments here, I will be going with the Pedders top hats. Thanks again for all the responses.

B14 springs taper down to 60mm at the spring perch, RCE/B6 will by 90mm ID at the lower spring perch so if increased tire clearance is your jam the B14 will be beneficial there, more camber from camber bolts available, -2.6 with 17x9+40's, can probably hit -3 with 17x8's, bolts, and enlarging the small upper hole. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=780 |

I can vouch for the Pedders top hats as well. Combined with PP springs/dampers and the OEM non-adjustable crash bolts, I landed at -2.1 in the front. Caster also went from 5.5 to 6 degrees, which is an added bonus. Been about 3k miles so far...no noise. I'm very happy considering its my daily.

Wanting to try non progressive springs like RCE yellows, doesn't mean that I didn't like the ProKit springs. ProKit springs are great! I drove 65k miles with them and enjoyed them very much. I have been 5k on my coils and parts with pillow ball suspension, and I'm ready for a change.

Thanks! I will be installing the Eibach Pro springs and Bilstein B6 next week. My stock system is already starting to feel mushy at 6 years and this new suspension is waiting in the garage since last summer. I bought progressive springs thinking that they could be more comfortable for street driving than linear springs. Do you think that expectation was right?

Yes, the Eibach ProKit springs are very comfortable. You will like them. I can't suggest enough the whiteline bumpsteer roll center kit. I noticed a big difference lowered 1". If you get it, you will like it too.

Got my pedders top hats installed last Friday.
Due to working from home for the moment, I have done very little driving... but I can confirm they are 100% noise free on slow speed turning, or dry steering. No pops, clunks, or spring bind. Hopefully it lasts! |

Luckily, I have been making pretty decent financial decisions for a few years. So, I'll be ok. And, once I get back to work, I will be ordering the Bilstein, Pedders, and springs. Until then... I'll be posting on here and wandering around my house bored out of my mind. Stay safe, Wash your hands!

I second this. I have the TRD springs (same as Eibach Prokit) and the ride is very similar to stock = comfy. you only notice the stiffer springs when you hit larger bumps. I don't know how much difference they made in terms of cornering as I installed the TRD swaybar kit at the same time. my car sits nice and flat through corners.

Just to update, I have put ~8000KMS of street driving on the pedders mounts with Eibach pro-kit and they are still 100% noise free.
