Are the CARB tunes considered safer than a custom tune, or would you have a "safer" set-up getting the kit custom tuned. Thanks.

The carb tune is quite "safe". Of course a custom tune will always be better fit for your car, but if you don't have a tuner in your area that you trust, the carb tune has been running strong on a lot of cars and will be a good alternative.

What custom tune are you considering? That CARB tune has had more R&D work & testing put into it compared to any sort of custom tuning you will do for your car with factory catalytic converters.

Considering that Jackson Racing's reputation is on the line, I'd say the CARB tune is VERY safe.

Is it possible that a custom tune could be safer? Of course! It's up to you to decide if your tuner is capable of that quality of work.

Remember, the CARB tune has more time put into it than just a few hours on a dyno like you will typically get with a pro tune.

Statistically, a carb tune will be safer. Definitely a lower risk option.

Yes. The CARB tune will not be affected.

then IMO, this is really the only way to do it. like someone said, JR's reputation is at stake here and they did what they could to ensure a safe and reliable tune.

i will strongly consider this next year if i have the money. it would pain me to lose my borla UEL as i love the sound but it would be a worthy trade for 240 or so WHP.

on a side note, would this also work with E85? if not i would run 93

CARB tune is meant for 91 to 93 octane. E85 requires a completely different tune.

I would stick with the recirculating bypass valve. You retain better throttle response and better fuel economy.

I had the JR SC on now for about 6 weeks. When I first got it, I was a little disappointed. It just didn't run like I thought is should. I tried to get the tuner to look at it but he was out for 2 weeks.

Last week, I was able to get the tune looked at. It was running lean at the lower rpms. Got it updated and it runs like I thought it should. What a relief. I thought I made a mistake in putting an SC on the car.

Runs like a champ.
