Which should you use? Remember that in*discrete, the*t*separates*the*e's, so*discrete*means "separate." For "unobtrusive", use*discreet.

Any mathematics that cannot be expressed using continuous functions is discrete math. So basically take all the math you learned in high school and set it aside.

Now consider all the other stuff.

I love this explanation for discrete versus discreet:
Discreet means on the down low, under the radar, careful, but discrete means individual or detached. They come from the same ultimate source, the Latin discrētus, for separated or distinct, but discreet has taken its own advice and quietly gone its separate way.

Getting older is weird. I know I don't need to set an alarm to get up early tomorrow, and instead of planning to stay up late tonight, I'm tempted to go to bed now so I can enjoy not getting out of bed even longer.

This.

It tends to be much more logic-oriented, rather than numbers.

Things like truth tables, proofs, etc.

As @hpanju also mentioned, recurrences and things of that nature.

Which were coincidentally also the hardest things for me when I took Discrete math.

If I don't set my alarm I can get up on time, it's weird. No way 10 years ago. I just wish I recovered better and had an easier time losing weight like I did even 5 years ago.
