How much for the full kit? Printer, abs or other sufficiently durable material supplies, software???

Not sure about the OP's printer, but I designed and built my own at a cost of about $600.
PLA/ABS costs about $21/lb.
Software is open source (free).

First thing I'd probably try (at least automotive related) would be a new "filler" for the 2DIN surround that matches the one in the car. The pattern might be tough though, would probably have to wrap the dash if you wanted it all to match.

That would be after I printed out my Master Chief battle suit and my ebony armor from Skyrim of course. Oh, and maybe a batmobile....
