I don’t know what half of those cars are, but aren’t many of them two seaters? Either way, nothing I can do about it, was just a question as it’s different to what I’m used to (mostly owned French or British cars). All good.

When putting someone into the back seat behind the driver, you have to reset the back rest manually to where it was before. I’ve never had a car do this before, every other coupe remembers where the backrest was previously to save having to reset each time. Is mine broken, or is this just what they all do?

Thanks in advance.
The drivers side seat doesnt move at all for rear seat access, only the passenger side. So your not getting to the back seat from the driver side without resetting the driving position each time.

Its probably done this way because the drivers side rear seat is the most likely to be space compromised if the driver is in an ideal driving position (obviously depending on size of the driver) But even with a short driver its not gonna give alot of space. Im 5'-7" and I can sit behind myself but i would still have to shrink my driving position a little bit.

I felt the same as ACT86 about the seats not remembering their position; it annoyed me too at first (if I actually used my back seat it probably still would).

My ownership history with other 2-door cars consisted of Cavaliers (and badge siblings) and Mustangs. All of which (2 of each) had seats that clicked back into the previously set position after tilting. The most recent was a '94 the rest were from the 80's. Neither the Cavaliers or Mustangs were known to be particularly safe for the occupants.

I think it was my '87 Cavalier that the seat tilt had a g-force latch similar to a seatbelt, so as long as the seat was stationary from a relative motion perspective, the seat back could be tilted forward without the release lever. More than once the empty seat smacked the dash under braking as the mechanism wore out.

Every 2+2 I’ve ever owned or grew up around reset to where it left. Hell if I recall even my dad’s 74 civic went back into position. It’s interesting the Eclipse didn’t reset but both of the 3000GT’s my mom owned did. So did all thee of her Preludes. Any Civic I’ve ever been in reset. My ex-wife’s Tiburon reset. My Integra resets. I just assumed this was a common thing.

Agreed. That’s why I was quite surprised and assumed mine was broken or something. Not the end of the world, just a pain.

I have the daughter behind me as it’s easier with our garage layout (passenger side against the wall).

I'd just like a spring that pulls the seat forward and holds it there. I think my Eclipse had that. Meh. First world problems.

For those complaining about the tiny backseats:
I’be already fitted:
Two 5’10, one 6’3 and me 5’9 on the same car.
The trick? Take off your shoes, stfu and don’t complain about the free ride.

Or be short and you can actually have usable backseats without resorting to any trickery
