I was next to one on the road, and my first thought was that the S2K is a much smaller car. Now that I'm going back to look at the actual dimensions, it's really not. The S2K is about 4.5 inches shorter front to back, with a 7 inch shorter wheelbase, but it's about the same height and width. The front track is 2 inches narrower and the rear track is 1 inch narrower. So it's a little smaller, but not nearly as much as my initial impression made me think.

It's also about 800 lbs heavier, according to Motortrend. Interesting.

Uhmm unless the frs/brz are really 2050lbs or so... No.

The brz limited is just under 100lbs lighter than a ap2, about the same weight as an ap1.

Motortrend was saying 2750 for the FR-S and 2830 for a 2005 S2K.

Edit- ok, I'm a dumbass who can't math. One too many zeros there.

Cd is only half of the equation.
the only point im making is that you cant just look at a car and figure out the aerodynamics. the xb is a more aerodynamic shape than the veyron. whether or not the xb is bigger shouldnt change that point.

It absolutely does.

Using just the Cd to say a car is aerodynamic, is like judging an engine by it's torque output.

Uh...Cd is "coefficient of drag", which means it's just a number or factor you use to the overall equation. You still need to figure out the area to find out the force of drag applied to the vehicle itself...

my only point is that you cant eyeball aerodymanics. the cda for the veryon is larger before it does its fancy superspeed thing by the way. then, when it does that thing the cda is near identical to the xb.

also, would the size of a car alter the cd?

Frontal surface (rough brick estimate) to drag area:

FRS - 24.56 sq ft x 0.28 = 6.88 sq ft
Veyron - 25.19 sq ft x 0.35 = 8.82 sq ft
xB - 30.95 sq ft x 0.31 = 9.60 sq ft
S2000 - 24.21 sq ft x 0.33 = 7.99 sq ft

Lol, actually mixed up the xB and xA in my head. Forgot about the toaster...

I absolutely can. It's no different from any other practiced skill; you just need to know what you're looking for.

CdA doesn't change with speed; Cd and A are both constants, as long as nothing is changing (active/passive aero).

i would say your assumption about the veyron and xb thing was kind of off but im kinda over that topic. we can have different viewpoints but i still appreciate all your knowledge. i know cd and a are fixed. my question was probably less than clear. if you changed the scale of a car would it change the cd? like if you had a 4/5 scale frs would it have the same cd as our cars?

Absolutely. Wind tunnel testing is typically done with scale models.

Yeah Cd has nothing to do with size. Behold one of the best Cd found in the animal kingdom 0.06.
