30k service at 29726 today.

The manual says you have to remove the metal under pan and the fiber one to change the trans fluid but I found the fiber one being removed to be more than enough room.





Verus rear diffuser by itself isn't enough to block the rear diff to change it's fluid either.







I was surprised to learn the oem magnet on the diff sticks way out versus the trans magnet that is under flush with the plug itself.












Air filter swap is super easy.



Funny enough, most of the rest of the 30k service, I've actually been doing in the last few weeks leading up to the big fluid changes.

Thanks again to the forum for instructions and advice.

Air filter part number: SU003-06405
Drain plug gasket 12157-10010
Plug gasket SU003-03626
Drain plug gasket SU003-00122
Redline MT90 GL-4 Trans oil (3 qts for 2.3)
Redline 75W85 GL5 Rear diff Gear oil (2 qts for 1.2)
Rear diff torque 36.1ftlb
Trans torque 27.3ftlb

After throwing a CF hood on the car and then washing it... there are two areas under the hood that make me nervous for no good reason. I know the engine bay can handle the water that will come at it but... the MAF sensor wires are just below the opening and the oil filter mount collected a good amount of water before I grabbed the compressor to gently blow it out. SO


Solution No 1 for giant holes in hood:
O-Ring, 70A Durometer, Round, Black, 3" ID, 3-1/2" OD, 1/4" Width

This should keep the water out.



Apparently perrin had a solution for this but no longer makes it. I sent them an email and they said they were looking to bring them back in new colors so hopefully this giant o ring is a stop gap until they make some billety goodness.

Its still winter here, so dirty roads and still risk of snow and freezing, and winter tyres on. But it didn't stop me from swapping in very low milage 2019 BRZ dampers and whiteline springs. I always disliked the damping characteristics of the 2013 dampers and these are much better over small bumps, much better ride even though it also got lowered(trimmed bump stops). Now ill need to sort new front ARB links which had to be angle grinded away, rust protection on these car is a joke sadly.

If this was my only enthusiast car i would definitely do the same, and buy one that haven't been winter driven. Keeping it from the salt makes it million times nicer to work on.

My last daily drivers have been Renaults, which are one of the best in the business at rust protection. They looked like new underneath compared to my 86, even though it had endured twice the mileage. Ive seen it on friends jap cars, but it was a bit of a shock anyway to get under my 86 😂

Are you referring to the diameter? If so, it looks big because the diameter of 245/40/18 really is too big (~25.7"), a full inch larger than stock diameter.

Should've gone 245/35/18 (~24.8") to get close to stock diameter (~24.7") if you still want the width of 245.

235/40/18 (~25.4") is still kinda big.

225/40/18 (~25.1) is the next closest option.
